Someone steered me towards the Ruger home page (http://www.ruger-firearms.com/index.html) late last night and I saw that there is a countdown until they reveal what their new product is. I for one appreciate the dramatic countdown, and dismiss the comment that the person sending me to the site that it was "another mini-14 with rails on it". So any guess as to what it might be for the sheer sake of fun? I'm gonna go with its a miniature 9mm, though i hope its an sp101 in .45 acp.

I bet it is a handgun of some sort. I can't seem them putting out another pocket gun UNLESS it is in a different caliber. So I say either a LCP in 9mm or maybe a 1911...?

My guess is either a mini-14 that takes STANAG magazines, a mini-something in .308, or an AR-15 of some sort (maybe even using a polymer lower a la Cav Arms).

It could also be a 1911, but my hunch is that it's a rifle.

The Firearms Blog made a really good case yesterday for it being an AR clone. We'll see in two and a half hours, I guess.

How long do you suppose before the recall is issued? ;)

An AR is kind of a commodity product these days. Anything they don't want to tool up and make themselves can be bought cheaply and trademarked to suit.

I think this photo, if authentic, posted in the other thread is a pretty darn good clue (thanks to REAPER4206969):

My guess (and not entirely original with me) is a gas-piston AR with a polymer lower and stainless innards. If so, I'd expect it to be pretty good.

I'm hoping it's the redhawk in 357 with a tactical rail. I know they authorized an airsoft version :D

"Three thirty round magazines included"

Well, if there was any doubt, this is proof positive that Bill Ruger's not running the company nowadays.

lol at the price tag... i mean i guess its an improvement over the 416 or some of the other piston ar's out there, but seriously?

i built a perfectly normal DI ar with a quad rail, buis and an aimpoint for less than $2000, and thats what i'll stick with
