I would like to get a OWB(belt) holster that is high ride and concealable as possible for a J frame Smith. Getting tired of IWB and pocket holsters. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have more leather in the drawer for my J frames than any of my other guns. The best of the OWB lot for concealment and comfort are the Alessi Belt Slide and the Kramer Belt Scabbard. Both are dual-slot FBI raked pancakes, for strongside carry just behind the hip. They are high-ride, and hold close to the body. I wear tail-out shirts during the warmer months, cardigan sweaters or vests when it is cooler. With the usual cautions for length of cover garment, these hide well, and are all-day comfortable.

These are all great choices. A pancake will make the little J utterly dissapear for the most part. FBI cant behind the hip will tuck the grip in to the side/small of the back and will still retain grip access. The reason most put them so high up is so the cylinder isnt uncomfortable and gives the grip the clearance it needs for a short gun.

Good choice..........Shoot well.

I concur with PCRCCW....a pancake holster would make a great carry rig for a j-frame...Pancake's are what I tend to carry when I use a belt holster and I havent been spotted yet...

For those rare days when I leave the 1911 home and wear the 442 on my belt, I have an Uncle Mike's kydex paddle. I plan to replace it with some nice leather sometime, but am spending my pennies on other things right now. The paddle does its job in a no-frills kind of way.

I always found a full pancake rig a bit excessive for such a small, light gun like my 442...so I take a simple inside the wasitband clip holster and wear it between the belt and pants...hides almost as well as an IWB and is just as comfortable as an OWB...and it only cost me 7 bucks for an Uncle Mike's clip on...

serpico I agree with you to a point. But I wouldnt use anything with a PLASTIC clip.....unless its molded Kydex. Ive seen the holster fall through peoples pants and hit the floor with the gun still in it, after the clips break off. The way you do it...it would just hit the floor.

Stay with a cheap bianchi leather softy IWB and spend another 10$ over the UM's If you want goodncheap.

Shoot well.
