Any turret options faster than Lee Classic

I just asked a question comparing progressive presses to the Lee Classic turret. I got some great answers as always.

I want to ask another question to make sure I cover all my bases

I currently use a Lee Classic turret press and load for 6 handgun calibers. I probably average around 150 rounds an hour. I change caliber/dies often and really like the ease and speed of the the turret head swap with Lee Classic.

Are there any other Turret presses that offer any speed advantages over the Lee Classic, either in output or caliber swap.

Not that I know of. If you want to load faster than a classic turret I think you will need to look at a progressive. I have been loading on a classic turret for six years. I bought a Dillon 550 around 8 months ago to speed up a couple of calibers. The Dillon is also a great press but I still use the classic turret as much as the Dillon.

Before I bought my Lee Classic Turret I asked on another forum if there were any other auto-indexing turrets manufactured by anyone. All answers were "no".

Aside from the fact that the Lee has only 4 die stations, every other press is manually indexing, takes longer to switch turrets (though, if you have more die stations, you conceivably might not have to swap turrets, just twist the one you have).

Lee's turret heads are about a quarter or less the price of other makers' turret heads, do not take tools to exchange and thus are faster in the swap.

Lee's turrets are held at the rim. Everyone else has a center post (hence, the larger diameter, more metal and consequently, more die stations). So center post or rim retention, there is some debate over which gives better die alignment. My vote is for the Lee, as the tilt of the center-post turrets is one way. The Lee turret lifts at the front at first, but as you apply more pressure the rear lifts also, zeroing out the tilt.

The classic turret has been the fastest change over I've seen. To change over the Loadmaster progressive, you change the turret, shell plate, primer feed, its a big pain the Butt-Tox. I think I'm gonna send my Loadmaster packing and go back to the Classic Turret. I had darn good luck with that thing.

One other note from me on the Lee Classic Turret, is I started with 2 Lee Pro 1000 progressive presses before going to it. Now I never had a problem doing reloading on the Pro models at all with none of the problems reported here including loading BP on it in 45 Colt. I must of loaded 2K of 45 Colt and a 1K of 9mm as well as 45 ACP.

I sold one of the Pro's and got the Lee Classic and it matched my speed as well as my amount and comfort level for the way I like to load. Speed and means little to me really as it handles my couple of 100 rounds a week I shoot, with just not as quick but not much slower either. I also loved how easy it was to change calibers and check charges, as I originally just got it to load 45 Colt BP ammo but soon changed my mind and sold the one I didn't sell to get the Classic with. It will probably be the last press I buy in my life time and very pleased with it.

Not that I know of. Like said above, Lee makes the only auto-indexing turret press and the auto-index feature is a big speed advantage.
