Question To Owners of Lee Classic Turret

This is what I did with my Classic Cast Turret. I like to control each powder charge so I cut down an MTM funnel and fitted it to my turret. The funnel to the right is an uncut funnel for comparison. I use a Lee Dipper Cup and dump the powder through the funnel with the case in the "up" position. I change it out for other cases and use the appropriate funnel neck. I only reload rifle so the little bit of extra time doesn't bother me. If I were reloading high volume pistol I might think differently.

If you get the rifle charging die, you can either mount an Auto-Disk on it, or put the standard Lee funnel in the top. When the case is raised into the die it's perfectly alligned to the funnel.

I've been using a Lee Classic Cast single stage press for several years now, and feel the need to move to a turret press, especially for pistol cartridges. I have already decided on a Classic Turret Press, but want to know what powder measure other owners are using with their Classic Turret Press.

I have a Turret but still with Rifle I am anal. So I basically use it as a single stage. I have removed the indexing rod so I move the turret manually. For my rifle charges I use a RCBS Chargemaster 1500 combo and funnel the charges into the cases. For Pistol I move over to my Lee Pro 100 progressive and use auto disk.

SSN VET - do you have a picture of the set up you described using the Lee funnel? Would it work in the configuration shown in my photo? I had to cut the funnel back pretty short to clear the tall die next to it.

I use a Deluxe Auto-Disc with my 3-hole classic turret press. I also use it with the Pro1K. I have a couple of them. THe only difference between the Autodisc and the Deluxe Autodisc is the Deluxe is chrome-plated instead of bare metal, and the hopper is smoke color instead of red. (Big whoop, it's what came with my press. I would prefer the Pro myself!)

I also use a Lee Pro Auto Disk Powder Measure. It's a much better design than the non-pro version and well worth the extra cost. The main difference is the screws which can easily strip the hopper on the non-pro. The Pro has fixed screws and uses brass nuts to hold the hopper in place. It's a much better design and has very little chance of failing IMO. You can see them side by side on the Lee Site. Don't let those prices scare you, they are much cheaper in the stores or online supply houses.

Don't forget to buy a Lee Auto-Disk Riser (on the same page) if you are going to be using a Lee Safety Prime.

For pistol I use the Pro Auto Disk conversion with the micrometer adjustment. It works fine for everything I load.

For rifle I use the RCBS Uniflow with adapters to mount it to the die. So far it works great but I've only used it for .223

I also have just installed the Lee Safety Prime but haven't tested it yet for the pistol. I'm sure it will work great though.
