I'd like to try some out this fall on deer, but nobody seems to be able to get them in stock. Anybody have any luck, or info as to when it might become available? If not I'm open to other ammo suggestions.

I would just keep an eye out and when you find some buy all you can. I don't see them making it for very long. It isnt a very popular or common caliber compared to the other leverevolution calibers.

Basically it's a bullet that hornady designed specifically for lever guns. In most lever guns you need a round nosed bullet because when you load them in the magazine tube, the bullet pushes into the casing of the shell in front of it. These have a tip (plastic?) that isn't deformed when pushed in. The idea is that the pointed bullet creates a flatter trajectory. At the ranges I'll be using it I probably won't benefit much/any from it, but the price is about the same or less than traditional ammo in that caliber, so I might as well get the bullet with better higher speed and more energy.

Hey Rugerfan, no, I haven't seen or tried the Leverevolutions yet, tho I prob will. My Dad and I have used Win 170 gr Silvertips and Rem 170 gr Core-lokt on deer since the early 60's with almost-entirely one shot stops. Never recovered a bullet yet, but all seem to have expanded and worked as advertised.
