I've got a CMMG complete rifle in 300 AAC Blackout on order. I ordered it over four weeks ago and CMMG told my dealer they were waiting on a shipment of quad rails to complete my rifle. I'm not griping. This cartridge has been more popular than any one predicted and it's going to take time for supply to catch up with demand. I just really hate waiting! Patience is not my strong suit.

I've also got a 458 SOCOM upper that is on order from Rock River. Their website says to allow 60-90 days for delivery! Local dealer says real world wait time will probably be closer to six months! He ordered some 458 uppers in the Spring of last year and didn't get them until November.

Anybody else hate waiting on guns? Anybody else waiting on the same firearms?

I hate waiting to get my hands on the new Kel Tec KSG that will probably take a whole nother year to get :(

I know where one is for sale right now. It isn't cheap, but it is in stock, or at least it was Monday.

I'm with you on this, I hate waiting on guns even when there is a reasonable explanation for why it is taking so long. But just to put it into perspective, look at the wait times for suppressors. They're hovering at just about 6 months, and that's AFTER the can is delivered to your local FFL! Imagine knowing that your gun is there, 10 minutes away, and you can't take it home for 6 months because you don't have one little stamp :cuss:

I'm about to start the wait for my first can and I'm going to be dreading every minute of the wait...

I waited over a year for my 38 super Kimber, it was worth the wait and there were no substitute products available. However, I don't think I'd wait for an AR upper if another brand was available. My 300 BLKOUT upper should be here today!

Hate waiting on guns? My friend, you need to enter the NFA game. That will change your perspective on "waiting".

I know what the wait times are like on suppressors. I almost bought one for this 300 BLK instead of buying the 458 SOCOM. I'll get around to buying a can at some point.

I probably wouldn't have waited on the CMMG if I had known on the front end that the wait would be this long, but it's ordered now, so wait I must. The deal I got the rifle and upper makes the wait a little easier.

Yeah. I've been waiting for 20 years and 8 months for a CCW permit, and my right to buy handguns.

My .458 SOCOM upper from RRA took about 60 days to arrive. It's also fantastic and I don't regret it at all. Sometimes waiting makes the item all the sweeter. :)

inebriated takes the cake. It will be so much fun on your 21st though, I'd buy a new handgun, take my ccw course (if it's a requirement) shoot a thousand rounds at the range then stop and get a case of beer on my way home :)

Roan, have you found any ammo cheap enough to plink with it yet? Plinking is not my intention, but I'd like to shoot it as much as I can afford to.

Inebriated, that puts things in perspective doesn't it? I retract my complaints.
It's not that bad... at least I have an end in sight. Who knows about that upper? lol

I don't know... I'm planning on a Sig P220, so I may not have the money for more than 50 rounds and a Coor's light lol. But definitely looking forward to being able to buy all that good stuff without having to call a buddy. And my dad's looking forward to his handguns finally being his. lol.

Nope!

Spent so many years being crushed by medical bills that just being able to lay the money down on a backorder, much less something that only takes a few days to get to the store is an endorphin rush.

As long as I get what I ordered eventually, I'm ok with a few weeks/months of pacing my house like an overexcited Homer Simpson.

Marksman13:

No, I haven't found any super cheap plinking ammo. I picked up some 405 grain Hollowpoints (you know, because 405 grains of .458 doesn't have enough expansion) and a variety of other ammo. When I take it to the range, I bring other weapons that I shoot more and just fire a couple magazines of the big gun. That way, I get the pleasure of firing the weapon and I get to shoot a lot. I'm keeping the brass, but I haven't started reloading yet. It doesn't take much to attract the attention of the entire range. :)

NYS resident here... we buy the handgun first, then wait until our "handgun permit" has been "amended" to include the firearms (handgun registration). - Can take a day or a few in some counties, many weeks in others.
Your first handgun takes the longest, because it's your "starter" gun for your permit.
Here's the kicker - you're breaking the law if you even touch a handgun prior to the issuance of the permit. Gun dealer can't let you hold an unloaded example of the one you wish to buy - he/she would be breaking the law, too.
You're required to take an NRA safety class as part of the permit process, but both you and the instructor would be breaking the law if the class includes live fire or handling of an actual gun.

19 years and 10 months here......it's kinda rough....

Get's better until about this point... The only thing keeping me from bouncing off the walls is focusing on school lol

You and Inebriated were interested in handguns the moment you were born?
Fine, I got into them at around 6. 14 years and 8 months. Does that make it better for you?

EDIT - allaroundhunter is on it... if you want to split hairs, I'll go back to 20 years and 8 months because, after all, I am waiting for a right to be instated. A right every one should have from birth.

Ain't that the truth haha....school takes up 25 hours of my 24 hour days...
No offense intended, btw toward AllAround and Inebriated. Sometimes I'll read a posting and it'll create an amusing image in my head. Seeing very young people safely enjoying firearms always puts a smile on my face, and the idea of a newborn baby immediately, upon delivery, dreaming of their first handgun (obviously skipping a few of those pesky steps up Maslow's Hierarchy) :)

I did not take it offensively at all, hence the winking face haha

But I don't remember those first few years well enough to count them anyways...must be old age getting to me
