Anybody else hate waiting on guns?

Recoil on the .458 SOCOM is heavy. However, Felt Recoil will depend largely on the setup of the weapon. With the AR Platform, using the stiffer springs it came with and Magpul UBR (the only telescoping stock really suited for the .458 SOCOM) the recoil is spread out over a longer period of time. Thus, my Mosin Nagant M44 has a much more brutal kick, but the .458 SOCOM pushes me back more but is more pleasant. Whether your wife likes it is largely based on how recoil resistant she is and whether she likes recoil.

In summation: I can fire far more rounds through my .458 SOCOM than I can my M44 before I call it quits, but it definitely lets you know that you fired the weapon.

I solved my impatience issue by buying one gun a day. After a week or so period I now receive a new gun everyday :)
Not really. But I do a gun a week (MilSurp usually) at the least.

Had a Kimber Solo on order for over a year......found out the other day the dealer is taking and listing them on Gunbroker to get more money.

Rembrandt, that sucks. How did you find that out? That's the great thing about being friends with my local dealer. I don't have to worry about something like that.

Marksman13: RRA .458 SOCOM CAR A4 Complete Upper. Standard configuration. I wasn't willing to pay for any of the extra options available when I didn't see any real benefit. I like the stock upper. :)
Lower I assembled myself with a stripped lower and parts kit. Magpul UBR for the stock.

I've found that the cheap, used GI Surplus magazines feed the best, if you're curious. The newer mags usually seem to have feed problems without modification.

That's good to know. I bought the same upper. I plan on using it to hunt deer and hogs, so I didn't see the advantage of having rails on it. I've got dozens of USGI mags laying around so it's good to know they will work. How accurate is your 458, Roan?

I've been waiting since May 2011 for a new Ruger SR1911. When I placed my order at my favorite gun shop, I was 7th on the list and have now been 1st since the beginning of the year. Just hope I get it before Labor Day. Don't want to shop around now since I have a confirmed price. :)

Marksman13: My cheap red dot scope isn't responding well to the forces exerted on it, so I can't give personal experience. I'm blaiming the scope here instead of admitting that I'm a horrible shot. ;)

Anecdotal evidence from others indicated a high degree of accuracy. The round is exploding in popularity in Indiana for hunters. In that state, the laws are such that the .458 SOCOM is effectively the only rifle round you can hunt with.

A few years ago I waited 120 days for the CMP to send me what turned out to be a 1942 Springfield Armory M1 Garand with original barrel and a beautiful walnut stock. Great shooting Field Grade...$395. Good things are always worth the wait.

Yep, I hate the days spent waiting after ordering one. I'm waiting for a Mosin Nagant 91/30 right now.

I hate waiting on guns even more. They're lousy tippers.

Hate's a strong word. I survived fine before getting into guns so it isn't a big deal. It's what you make of it.

Yep. I picked up my Stag A2 complete lower half yesterday. While I was at my dealers I had him order me a Stag 1H complete upper half with the plus package. I wish I would of had him order it when he ordered my lower. That way I could shoot it this weekend.

NYH1!

Hate waiting on guns? My friend, you need to enter the NFA game. That will change your perspective on "waiting".
Ditto ...
I've got 2 SBR's I've been waiting on stamps for since September, if I'm lucky I'll have in another month or two ... a M16 form 4 transfer since November that maybe I'll get in July or August. Started a out of state form 4 transfer in December (first transfer to dealer, then to me) I'll be lucky to have that one in time for Christmas this year ... and I'm considering one final SBR on an HK 51 :banghead:

Holy cow. I would say that you need a hobby....but it seems like you've got one ;)

I had to wait from the end of August until the beginning of December to get pistol purchasing permits, which expire after 90 days. Then only once I had them I could place my orders for the three pistols I want, which I have to wait to arrive. Then I get to wait 30 days between being able to get them. Since it took over thirty days for the first one to arrive, I have to get the last permit renewed so I will be able to get the third handgun. How I love NJ's gun laws.

Apparently the OP.and I have similar taste. I just got an AR and plan on uppers in .300 BLK and .50 Beowulf, and the wait times are definitely discouraging. Good things come to those who wait...

Man, some of y'all make me feel terrible for griping, especially, Demos.

I honestly hate waiting for anything. My wife says I have the patience of a shrew and that is probably being generous.

I'm probably going to be waiting on an M1A soon too, so I guess I might as well get used to it.

Waiting isn't so bad when you finding something to do with the time.

If I have something on order and I'm waiting for it to arrive, I'll peruse the various online dealers in search of mags, ammo, or a good holster for the piece I'm waiting on. It keeps me excited without exhausting my patience.
