Anybody else hate waiting on guns?

If I have something on order and I'm waiting for it to arrive, I'll peruse the various online dealers in search of mags, ammo, or a good holster for the piece I'm waiting on. It keeps me excited without exhausting my patience.

I do this too!......and then find something else I want whilst I'm perusing and then have to wait to have the funds to afford it....for me it is a never ending struggle... :banghead:

Be thankful that you do not live in a state that makes you undergo a "waiting period" when it gets to your FFL. :)

My AK was bought online and got overnighted so that was quick. My AR was ordered in November 2011 from Specialized Dynamics and I still haven't got a response as to when it will be done. Last time I will be buying a gun from them.

I waited over a year for my Kimber Solo. I was #28 on my dealer's waiting list. At least it was paid for by the time it came in. I'm now waiting on a Citadel 22 M-1 Carbine. It was announced by LSI at the '11 Shot Show and again at the '12 Shot Show last month. Am I holding my breath? NOT ON YOUR LIFE!! :D I had to wait a couple months for my Kel-Tec PMR 30. My nephew wants one and he's still waiting back in Michigan.

I hate it when a manufacturer announces any new product so long in advance of shipping it to retailers.

I waited two years for my M1 collector grade. When I had my C&R, before obummer, it usually took ten days from the time I placed my order until the gun hit my door.....chris3

The worst wait is when I buy a gun I will usually have to wait 24 hrs for NICS instant check. My wife buys the same gun and walks out of the store with it. Wish I knew why???

xfyrfiter (Ex-Firefighter): It means that a flag pops up during the NICS check that they have to investigate. Maybe you share the same name/birthday with a felon. Maybe you have a really common name. If you don't put your Social Security on the form, try that next time. My understanding is there is a process you can go through to get an ID number for those checks, but I don't know what's involved. You'd have to do some research.

Get yourself a concealed carry license. Then you won't have to wait anymore. Dealer doesn't have to call in for the NCIS in most states if customer is licensed.

Just ordered my first 5.56 NATO yesterday. Since the dealer offered free shipping, I assume it's going Parcel Post or something really slow like that. The wait is not so bad because I'm spending my time looking for cheap ammo, once-fired brass, dies, and projectiles for it. (I have primers and gunpowder already)

Got tired of waiting for a CMMG that may never come in, do I bought an OD Glock 27 in the mean time. I figure by the time it gets here I'll have some money put back for it. My 458 SOCOM probably won't be in for another six or seven weeks.

I never order anything. If I can't see it and touch it before hand, I would never buy it with the hope that I will like it. Even someone mentioned in NYC. I had a carry for 25 yrs. and I was able to handle all the guns i wanted at my uncles range, where he was treasurer. When time came I knew I wanted a DS in nickel as my first carry in NYC. They gave me the purchase orded and I went downtown straight from 1PP, and bought the gun, returned, had it typed on my license and then proceeded to customise it a little, different grips a nice holster etc. I still have the original grips for that gun, as it was taken during a home invasion, an i never replaced it.
My ppk's was my second one, from a custom gunmaker in Roslyn, Michael Britt. Who only sold ppk's, and had a gun club, mine was a pre 76 German model, completelly done in nickle also with wooden cocobolo grips, a definate barbcue gun. had a lot of work done to it. The they allowed me a second gun which was my S&W model 60, I had both those shipped inter-department, in 94 when I gave up my NYC permit, after selling my business. If you have a license, "unrestricted" due to your business, IE, carrying large sums of cash late at night when banks are closed, you had to give up the permit when you sold the business. Try giving back a gun when you are used to having it for 25 years.
But back to the original post, I really can't feel comfortable not seeing what I am buying. I have seen "new guns" with scratches or discoloration along with timing issues, and loose sights etc. No way I could wait that long to be dissapointed. Meanwhile I would sue that gun dealer who has you waiting for a gun while he sells yours online for a higher price. That's just unethical and breech of contract. They did that with Seecamps when folks waited 2 years for them, with a $500.00 deposit, never to have seen the guns. That guy needs a good slap.

I had to wait a couple days last week because of a delay on my 4473 for my new M&P9C. It was awful. I've gotten used to it though, I think I've only had one firearm purchase that went right through in the past several years.
