Anybody have a G19 compensated model?

And do you like it? I've got a guy who wants me to trade my 3rd gen G17 straight across for his G19c.
Now my regular G19 is my favorite Glock but I'd like to hear the pros and cons of the ported models.

Pro: it would reduce muzzle flip (the upward torque) under recoil, although the 9mm has little to start with.

Con: the muzzle flash/blast is directed upward, more into your line of sight, which could momentarily blind you if you fire it at night, and the blast can injure you if you have to hold the gun close to your body when firing (very probable if your attacker is already grappling with you).

I have a G19c. It was one of the first handguns I bought. I would not buy a compensated one again if I had it to do over. If you only want it for a range gun, then it is fine for that. If you plan on carrying it, then I would not go with the compensated model. It shoots rabbit ear flames straight up out of the ports when you shoot it in low light. Not too good when you need to see what you are shooting at. But it is a fun plinker/target gun.

Never fired the 19C but I have both a G-23C and G-23 (same thing in 40 S/W).

Only thing I don't like about the 23C is the minor annoyance that after 50 rounds or so the front sight gets dirty. I've fired both at night with 180 Federal Hydra-Shok, could not tell one bit of difference in flash or loss of night vision. The major portion of the "blast" is a small round ball at the muzzel, did not even notice the ports as it just blends in with the rest of it. It was certainly no worse than the regular G-23 fired under same conditions same evening

Glock had the bad idea of using some ad's showing huge plumes of flame coming from the ports just to show how the system worked and a lot of people came to some wrong conclusions because of it.

The lighter and faster bullets you use better the porting system works. For example if you favor 147 grain standard presure 9mm loads, you will likely not notice much difference at all, if however you like 115- 127 +P or +P+ loads you likely will notice much more reduced muzzel rise. Note that ALL it does is reduce muzzel flip, no real reduction in recoil.

Of my 23 and 23C I carry whichever is cleaner and closer
