All,

Just got my G19 Gen 4 yesterday from my dealer. :D I couldn't wait so I had to shoot it last night.

Pros:
Um... it's a G19, do I really need to go into this? I mean, it's the Vanilla flavor of firearms, it's the Honda Civic of Firearms. Ok, ok. I will.
Yes, it has the Dual Recoil spring setup the same as the G17 and G22 Gen 4 pistols, it also has that psuedo RTF style grip. I didn't put any of the backstraps on and smallest grip seems a little thinner than my Gen 3 G19. I need to take a measure to it and go from there.
It shoots a little softer than my Gen 3 G19, but not all that much with standard pressure rounds. It was noticeable when I shot off the Speer Gold Dot 124 Grain +P rounds though. For the most part, it shoots like a standard G19 just a little softer, I put 200 rounds through it last night, mostly ball with one box of 50 JHP rounds:
115 FMJ S&B
115 FMJ Blazer Brass
115 FMJ Federal.
124 Grain +P Speer Gold Dot.
I had exactly 0 failures to fire, 0 failures to extract, 0 jams of any kind, and the dual recoil spring assembly didn't jump out and pimp slap me because it's evil and Glock never should have deviated from the 3rd Generation or even 2nd Generation gun design.

Cons:
It's not a 1911? Seriously, I couldn't find anything I disliked about the gun.
More range reports will be coming shortly, as will a side by side comparison. I thought I'd get my initial thoughts out first.

Personally, I hate the Gen4 look. But I do love new Glocks. So I'm excited for you  Makes me wanna go shoot

I've been wondering, had the gen4 grip converted any Glock haters to Glock shooters?

I've hated the Glock grip from the first time I picked one up, and yet now that I have a sub2000 that takes Glock mags I feel like I should try to have the matching pistol.

Any former haters out there? I haven't encountered a gen4 in person to try out yet.

Maybe this comes from me not owning/liking Glock pistols (all ergos for me, no hate here), but other than the texturing on the frame and the addition of finger grooves and a rail, is there any real difference between this and other Glock pistols? Does it still have the same grip angle? Are the internals (which seem to have worked fine in the past) any different? Other than appearance and feel, is this generation any different than the one previous?

millertyme, the gen4 has multiple swappable backstraps.
The grip's angle can't be much different, it takes the same mags as previous generations.
The mag release button is supposed to be bigger and the texture is somewhere between the super-aggressive RTF that's been out for a while and the basic texture.
... I'm curious about them, Glock ergonomics have always been a no-go before.

sweet i held a 17gen4 and i liked it....where did you find this one? guess ill have to get another g19 :D

Ive been trying to get my hands on one of these. I have a friend that bought one, but everywhere Ive tried to go, I've had no luck. Looks great tho. Ive had the Gen2 and Gen3, but I think ill like the changes made to the Gen4

It's horribly ugly and definitely going to be unreliable. I'd burn it.

:neener:

Tell you what, let's arrange a trade for my somewhat pristine G19 RTF2. I'll do you a solid on this one and get you out of this mess you've gotten yourself into.
