Anybody have an AR in 6.5 Grendel?

Comparison problem

I checked out the ballistics comparison chart again and noticed that the column for 7.72x51 listed it as "M852", but with a 175-gr bullet. MV on that should be 2550 at 78 feet, or almost exactly 2600. It's listed as being only 2500 fps.

Can someone find out which is correct?

OK, last 2 questions, about the barrels themselves:

1) Through the years I've seen several stainless steel barrels which showed fracturing of the land/groove junction, which I presume was caused by brittleness of the material and either the process of rifling itself or the stress risers coming up from the sharp corners with shooting. (Off the top of my head, I recall seeing a Ruger .45, a Kimber .45 and a S&W .357 with this problem.) What sort of risk of this is there in these particular barrels?

2) Is there any chrome lining?

MeekandMild,

There are multiple variances in the examples you bring up (manufacturer, age, fatigue, etc) that make it impossible to comment on the specifics of other manufacturers products.

As it relates to the 6.5 Grendel, this is non-issue given the level of material and machining quality being put into the product.

Chrome lining is not currently be done, but that does not perclude it being done at a later date for specific applications.

They may look pretty, but does the performance match? I suspect that it does, but always like to hear from ordinary folks whether the seller is telling the truth - the more people, the better.

TX65,

i've not been keeping up with all this 6.5 stuff until this thread, but it looks very promising. sounds like some serious work and research has gone into your development. kudos to you and yours.

as long as questions are flying around i have a couple.

has the military expressed interest in the round for testing and possible adoption?

has H&K expressed interest in chambering the XM-8 project in 6.5 Grendel?

that would be awesome if H&K won the contract for the M-8 and chambered it in 6.5. our fighting mend and women could finally have a modern replacement for the M-16 chambered in something decent. (just my opinion)

feel free to contradict me anyone. But even adoption of the (arguably) inferior 6.8 SPC looks really doubtful at this point.

expressing interest and actually adopting are two different deals, I highly doubt the 6.5 or the 6.8 will ever be fully adopted but interest has been expressed in the 6.5
