A couple eye rollers in that one.

The Chiappalloy thing made me chuckle (card carrying P22 basher here). You would think by now that gun owners would be aware that Zinc alloys are not used in quality firearms (ever).

"Major parts of the pistol, including the slide, frame, and some internals, are made of Chiapalloy, a proprietary zinc-based alloy that is durable, easily machined, and readily blackened by an electrolytic process..."

Apparently the the triggers parts are/were made of this stuff. They're phasing in steel parts (wonder why?).

Regarding the 10lb trigger pull.
"According to the company, the alloy used for the trigger components work -hardens with use, eventually yielding a pull of around 5 lbs".
I thought that was curious. Should be hard out of the box. How does it maintain the correct geometry? They managed to shoot 1" groups at 25 yards average with a 10lb trigger. Possible I suppose.

Nice use of euphemisms there.

I read that one yesterday, it certainly has a few things that made me suspicious about the 1911-22. To be honest I'm pretty suspicious of any gun review in the Rifleman.

I would like a reasonably priced 22 based on a 1911 but I'll pass on that one, at least for a while. They might fix it in the future.

BTW:
I had a P22, it was the most unreliable gun I have ever owned.

The gun sells in the $250-ish price range, and some limitations do have to be accepted. Where I have a problem is with makers charging $350-$400 and still using zinc alloy in the slides, something that is supposed to be a cost-cutting measure.

These things are junk, my local dealer friend got a few in and ended up sending them all back. We even had cases blow up and seperate while shooting one of them. The case is not fully supported on the bottom side, they swell like a son of gun, and even seperate from the head on occasion.

Another one is "Brasslite", I have doubts about what that is, but suspect it isn't good.

Aw never mind, someone will come along and tell us we don't know anything about metals and that, for instance, if the Zamak is formed by MIM processes somehow that makes it as good as steel.

The cheapening of consumer guns goes way back. No less famous maker than Remington used to make derringer frames out of cast iron. We all know that brass used for revolver frames wouldn't hold up like steel, and such cheap guns were pretty common even back then.
These practices are the manufacturers stating in bold that the consumers are stupid, and magazines seem to be without shame in helping them promote such junk.

I would assume that pride would prevent well known companies from adulterating their products with garbage materials, but evidently once the founder is dead the scum suckers come in and rape their good name.

America is filled stem to stern with "black ink engineering" that is very effective in the short run but eventually sinks the ship, not just in manufacturing but politics as well. I've never seen nor heard of the bold shameless lying being done by a president of the U.S.A., and I thought Klinton was dishonest!

Has anyone bought furniture lately? pressed wood with plastic veneer, and the back is thick cardboard. A people which accepts such junk would vote for a president who promised anything.

As a nation we deserve it I think.

My 1911-22 is stovepipe city. I'm probably going to ship it back to them and see what if anything they can do. My trigger is not 10 lbs, but its absurdly long reset makes it nothing like shooting a real 1911 :(

I've got one and it's a hoot. I haven't shot it enough to consider it broken in, and there were some malfunctions, but it's still fun.

Mine would be fun if it didn't stovepipe on 7-8 times per 100 rounds -- almost once per mag is the norm :(

The trigger reset I could probably forget about if it was reliable.
