Similar performance as vmax, tips look the same. I bought 1k about a year ago because they were cheaper than vmax at the time.

The 40g Zmax are BT. I have loaded up a few hundred of the 40g Zmax with 25.5g of 844 and they were outstanding.

Just after the current shortage hit my buddy who owns a gun shop got two cases of those Z-Max bullets in he ordered before the shortage got into full swing. Even though he had a show to do the next weekend we convince him to sell us some of them and at a good price too. I took 3 boxes (1500), my reloading buddy took 4 boxes and the owner kept 3 boxes for himself. So, he ended up taking only one case to the show! LOL

Those bullets are very accurate and like mentioned above, they are the same as another Hornady bullet but I think they are A-Max bullets instead of V-Max except for the color of the tip of course. The tip is zombie puke green but they cost less than the A-Max bullets so who cares what color the tip is?

I'd definitely say they're not the same as A-Max. A-Max are all "match" bullets to my knowledge, some have a polymer tip and others are hollow points, not meant to expand. The V-Max are a varmint bullet designed to rapidly expand and from what I've seen from Z-Max they do the same.

I called Hornady about the Z-Max bullets about a year ago. Phone rep confirmed that they were V-Max, just changed tip color.

Rep commented that Steve Hornady was a fan of zombie movies, hence the zombie bits & pieces.

They are extremely accurate out of our guns. When I first got them I was looking for Vmax. This is all that was available. But yea I kinda like the green now too.

I've shot hundreds out of my 1-9. h322 over a Fed 205M and I can one hole them all day long. Have thousands on the shelf and a couple thousand loaded. I won't need to use any other bullet except for longer distances.

My mistake then, thanks for the info. In any case, they are very good bullets and I like them! lol
