Question: "Anybody know where to get good binoculars cheap??"

....NO, anyway you slice it, cheap binocs are cheap glass, and good binocs are not cheap...

Also check the local camera stores Last year's models can be pretty cheap for quality glass Some time back, I snagged a set of Leica 10x25's for $200 new in the box. I was lucky for sure that day, but it could happen to you...

Another option to look at are the Pentax UCF series-- great optics, stout design and a very good price

I will also offer up the Olympus Tracker as a remarkably sharp, compact, lightweight and affordable binocular.

I acquired both an 8x and a zoom edition of the Olympus from Binoculars.com as they matched my best internet price, were prompt and took care of me well.

Having reviewed both editions, I would not recommend the zoom as I found the internal mechanics were a bit tough to use, but the 8x received very high marks from me. Thus, consider the Olympus Tracker PC I 8x25 in your search.

I bought a pair of Barska Atlantic 10x42 roof prisms from Cabela's. They were fifty bucks, and I'm pretty pleased with them.

I didn't want a really expensive pair because I'm prone to losing things (I still can't find one of my 35mm cameras with a $200 28-200 zoom lens on it). D'oh!

If you want to go super-cheap, try a pair of Simmons Red Line 10x50 binoculars from Wal-Mart for about $25. They're really pretty good in low light.
