Anyone care to see the “assault weapons ban of 2018”?

From what I’m seeing, if passed, all semi automatic firearms that take a detachable magazine would be illegal for sale, transfer or importing. What a joke.

The last AWB was a failure. Hence why it wasn’t renewed.

I’d be surprised if this gets out of committe. From there to get passed by both the House and Senate would be such a long shot that I’m not too worried. If somehow it got passed as others said, it isn’t likely to signed. In fact, I’d be surprised if it wouldn’t be vetoed. Then there aren’t enough votes to override it.

Now don’t get me wrong. We should be aware of all bills like this, we should never let our guard down, and we shouldn’t take the above for granted. Our enemies are calling and writing in support of this. We need to do the same make our opposition known or law makers will think there is more support than opposition.

Good advice.

My two senators and my rep are all Democrats. I still contact them and tell them how I feel about bills. I know it's a fools errand but at least they know I'm here and I vote.:D

This is the proverbial "shot across the bow." The Dems will watch closely to see how this plays in the mainstream media and adjust their tactics and plans accordingly.

I bet ARs are simply flying off the shelves. Bud's seems to be sold out of the standard version of the M&P Sport II and the price of the Ruger offering jumped $20 since this afternoon. SGammo seems to be getting flooded with business as well.

These people must be idiots.

I’ve contacted Kaines office before. It’s frustrating in a way, but also satisfying letting his staff know that the majority of Va doesn’t share his view. Now if we could only enact electoral colleges in all of the states for statewide and federal offices, but that’s something I doubt we’d get past the Dems

Yes there is a bit of a run going on.
I ordered the barrel for a build I have been working on right after the shooting and was told it would take extra time due to the high number of orders. My order wasn’t in reaction to it, but rather wanting to get it done.

As I posted in another thread it’s human nature for people to panic and buy what they normally wouldn’t during times like this. I suspect in this case, once things calm down a bit the demand will drop. I’m also hoping that after the last 8 years that this isn’t a full blown panic but rather a smaller blip.

I know while I’ve been slowly building up what I’d like to have I’m not fully there yet. If things go insane, I have what I need to protect my fami,y and some spares. So I can hold off if needed. I just hope that those who are looking to hoard and drive up prices in the hope of making big bucks don’t get what they wish. In fact, I hope anyone doing that loses a lot of money when things return to normal. And I hope that’s soon.

Rest assured that every AR sold after the last panic subsided was sold at a loss. I remember Bass Pro selling standard M&P’s for $1,200. Should this happen again, be patient, and reload.

I have seen more accurate descriptions of firearms in video games and movies. And to think these idiots MAKE laws to be enforced nationwide.

First of all, this bill isn't going anywhere. Not in this Congress.

That said, I took the trouble to read it. There's a lot of misinformation floating around about it.

It's almost a carbon copy of the 1994-2004 ban, in that it grandfathers existing weapons and magazines. One difference is that transfers of grandfathered weapons would have to go through FFL's (thereby creating a paper trail).

No outright confiscation of existing weapons, and therefore no compensation (although the bill does provide money for "buybacks").

The idea seems to be to drive prices of existing weapons up, in the same way that the Hughes Amendment did for machine guns. However, with millions upon millions of AW's extant, the market effects wouldn't be felt for a long time.

CNN & their new 17 year old law makers( so called survivors) are a crowd determined to strip America of our guns. E-mail your congress people & save our weapons.

Here is the latest attempt at an assault weapons ban with over 150 supporters in the House.

I would not worry if they don't do it now there will be a new bunch of voters who are now high school kids eligible to vote in 2020 presidential elections and some in 2018 mid-term ones. They will take care of firearm crime, "gun show" loopholes for us...... I don't own any assault-style rifles and am perfectly satisfied with magazine capacity of 10 or less (my Remington 1100 holds four in the magazine) and feel I should not loose my rights in the future because of wishes of some. Pleeeese stop telling me you need AR-15 or AKM with 30 or 40 round magazines because it may protect you from some tyrannical government in the future. Semi-automatic rifles like that in hands of civilians against: tanks, APCs, helicopters with night and thermal capabilities,.....is suicide made easy. That is why some on the left think some right wing people are loonies.

This is why we need to get anyone and everyone who will support us registered to vote now.
It’s why we need to create more youth shooting programs
Get more teens involved in three gun and other shooting sports NOW.

If we all got a few people that don’t vote to do so on our side we’d have a chance as we should all know that our enemies are much better at get out the vote than us.

Yes, the only hope for gun owners is to recruit more gun owners otherwise it's a matter of time before all is lost. Supporting the NRA, NRA-pvf,....is not enough.

Very nice weather yesterday; went to a local public range for some fine tuning. The “Bubba’s” had the same idea, out in droves. Every single group had at least one bump stock equipped semi-auto and many 30 round mags; in between the shooting madness and concussions of the mag dumps - muzzles were pointing everywhere, the loud conversations were of the constant “F” bombs and back woods crude maleness - all these boys were on the very obnoxious side. It dawned on me very quickly why the anti’s may think the way they do - I was surrounded by primates with guns. I know that I was at a public range and those kinds of people outnumber the studious sportsman but OMG! I saw the other sides point - no wonder they want the guns - just unbelievable! Thank you for allowing me to vent.

The rush may in fact be on again. My press is still on backorder, so it may be on ammo as well. Its still too early to say on anything for certain other than ARs and for sure on bumpstocks.
