Anyone considering NOT converting a Saiga ?

Jake, I offer my humble thanks for helping me to differentiate between what I wrote, and what I THINK i wrote. I'm wondering if you'd mind scrolling back through all my previous threads and helping me figure out the difference in what I wrote and what I meant to write there,as well:neener:
While I do agree with you that to a great many "gun ignorant people", a gun is a gun is a gun. But I'll assume you're also willing to concede that to another great many "gun ignorant people", there's a world of difference in 30-06's and 12 guages...........and AK-47's and UZI's.
And finally, I am not,"wasting my time letting that issue affect a decision in a gun I may want.". As I said, or as I THINK i said, I already have this gun, and another already converted. I was just conversationally running by you guys my reasons for not converting one of them, not seeking to have my balls busted over it.

I converted mine to the extent that it can now use AK magazines, but that's more a matter of economy and availability than anything. Past that, I have no plans to do anything to it. I like the gun pretty much as it is.

Nope.
Wish I had a few just to spite the "far-left loons".

They are selling a bunch of Saigas and regular AKs etc at the gun show here in Memphis at the fairgrounds.
Looked them over today.

One thing to keep in mind: converting not only gets you a pistol grip and (usually) a better buttstock. You also have to swap out the trigger, and the Tapco G2 is a far superior trigger to the stock one. I'm glad the sporter configuration lets RAA import the Saiga easily, but in truth an AK is just meant, IMHO, to have a pistol grip.

Only if it had nice wood furniture.. I'd leave it OEM.

OT:
Put a bullet guide and Galil pistol (US made) grip on my S223 last night over at the farm in Idaho.. looks slick & it now has a dozen Galil 35 rnd magazines to feed it.

My saiga 12 is stock (except the high(er) cap mags). No need for a pistol grip on it, it works perfectly fine without.

I have a thumbhole wood stock saiga 308, trigger is already is in the forward position, thumbhole stock feels right, going to leave as is. Also have a saiga 12 in stock configuration, going to leave as is. I already converted another of my saiga12's to pistol grip years ago and dont need 2 of them.
I did read somewhere, where the the stock saiga 12 shoots slightly faster then one with a G2 trigger assembly. Dont remember where I read it and I cannot tell you for sure.

It was easy enough to just do what you see below without a conversion, and and it suits me just fine.

I thought about not converting my Saiga .223, for about a week. Then I just couldn't resist the temptation of seeing if I could actually do it. I did, and am glad. I now know a great deal more about the inner workings of the rifle and it is more fun to shoot converted.
