What the heck is this??

"Dear Alien Gear Family,
We appreciate your concerns about our stance on the Commodity Flow Survey. As of this email, the Census Bureau has NOT asked us to hand over any customer information. Should they request us to share your personal information, our stance is always to protect it. We are grateful to those who support us as a business. We also value your support of our 2nd Amendment rights. We wouldn’t be able to exist without it.

Therefore, we cannot in good conscience agree or comply with any attempts to undermine our 2A rights. It would be in direct violation of who we are as a company, constitutional carrying Idahoans, and most importantly as free Americans. As always, thank you for being a part of the Alien Gear community and supporting the rights that ensure our freedom.

Shawn Hostetter,

CEO Alien Gear Holsters

The United States Census Bureau has been asking FFLs and gun accessory manufacturers to hand over data on who bought from them, when, where, etc. People are rightfully concerned that this information can be used to further the gun control agenda.

It doesn't help that this has been occurring while ATF agents are forcibly creating and collecting electronic 4473 records from FFLs who have chosen to keep only paper records.

Its the nonsensical rambling of a moron.
View a sample report here: https://www2.census.gov/programs-su...ocumentation/questionnaires/CFS-1000_2022.pdf
The reporting required is for SHIPMENTS of commodities and only asks for city/state/zip code.....not the customer street address. And the Census Bureau clearly does not want customer information.

Alien Gear thinking it has something to do with Second Amendment rights means Alien Gear didn't read a damn thing.

This has nothing to do with firearms, unless you are a conspiracy theorists thinking ATF/FBI/Disney/CNN are building a database of holster owners.

Horsehockey.
Where do ya'll get this stuff?

Concern is one thing. Absolute nonsense is something else.

More horsehockey.

1) It appears as though no personal information is collected in the first place.

2) This is nothing new

3) They are looking for data about how much stuff is being shipped from where to where and how for use in making decisions concerning transportation infrastructure.

Bovine Excrement.

More horsehockey.
1. It seems you're the one bringing up horsehockey. When someone makes allegations of misconduct against a government agency, using the website of that government agency in an attempt to prove them wrong is... Nonsensical. That's about as ridiculous as police investigating themselves and finding themselves innocent of wrongdoing.
2. You can take it straight from the horse's mouth.
3. Yes, ATF agents are forcibly converting records from paper to electronic. This isn't "horsehockey," you're just woefully uninformed.

4. As a bonus to nail the point home that you need to do your research on this topic, here's video of ATF agents attempting to conduct a warrantless search of a man's house because they believed that, since he bought multiple firearms in a single transaction at an FFL, he was a "straw purchaser."

He is an FFL that knows what he is talking about.

The commodity report is nothing new.

2. You can take it straight from the horse's mouth.

That horse is looking for viewers. They get paid when nitwits watch their channel. Videos with inflammatory content get more hits.
If you actually listened to that video you'll see where they AGREE with what I posted above.

3. Yes, ATF agents are forcibly converting records from paper to electronic. This isn't "horsehockey," you're just woefully uninformed.

1. What is in that video isn't "forcibly" by any stretch.
2. Oh look momma, its another YouTube channel looking for hits.
3. She isn't converting jack squat....shes taking a picture of his bound book. By the FFL's own admission he had "plenty of clerical errors" and transferred firearms in violation of federal law. That dealer is admitting to felonies.
4. The dealer in that video is a moron or has never actually been through a compliance inspection. ATF IOI's don't have badges. Paper is used by over 80% of FFL's. The dealers facts are highly suspect.

And AGAIN.........your facts are wrong.
1. Its not a warrantless search.
2. Its perfectly legal.
3. Happens every day.
4. Has been happening since 1968.

Good grief man.

Could it be the company in question is using a normal occurrence to contact customers to bolster their stance on 2A and show what great “defenders of freedom” they’d like you to think they are?

Basically a form of a sales pitch or to influence former customers to return?

The impression I have, and it's just me guessing, is that some customers expressed concerns regarding this so Alien Gear addressed those concerns. They're stating that as of now no customer information has been requested, so as someone who recently bought one of their holsters this isn't anything I'm going to worry about.

Seems like customers were making a big deal about it, so A.G. sent out a mass email. From wha I could gather with a quick search, other holster companies may have been randomly contacted by the Census which started the entire controversy.

A.G. says in their response that they in fact were never asked to give out personal information, and even if they were, they would refuse.

It would seem that every retailer that we bought stuff from would have concerned customer. Much more that a lame holster.
How about the guns that go in a holster

I was hiding my holster in hole out back along with my dangerous weapons of war!:)

Not to concerned, just very weird. Alien like!o_O

Customers don't get the survey, businesses do.
Customers were totally ignorant to the survey until Alien Gear sent their email.

Virtue signaling.

You may be right, but before I accuse a company of something that may cost them business I want to be sure that accusation is correct. I read your other posts, and other than making assumptions are you aware of something which tells you they're simply virtue signaling? Again, I'm not saying you're wrong and am not debating you, I'm just asking if you're aware of something that others aren't.

If Alien Gear hadn't sent out that email, no one would be having brain spasms.

That's not what I asked, but I did a quick internet search and found a link to an article from Ammoland. It includes a copy of the letter the Census Bureau sent to other holster companies. They are not asking for customer names and addresses but are asking for what city and state orders are shipped to as well as invoice numbers. I don't know what if anything can be done with that information but am wondering if this article or other similar ones prompted Alien Gear's e-mail. The article appeared on July 15. Alien Gear posted a copy of the e-mail on August 4. Again, I don't know Alien Gear's intentions, but I do know that prior to posting negative things about a company and calling their CEO a moron I'd want to have my facts in order.

I heard someone talking about this on the radio the other day. For whatever it is worth it is the Federal Government gathering information. I don't really believe they have our best interests at heart.

He is an FFL that knows what he is talking about.
No, he doesn't. A great many people in the gun community, including many reputable figures, are concerned over this. Why should I believe that this guy is the one true voice in a sea of many?

I'm wondering why so many FFLs trust the government, even though the government holds an anvil over their head.

Don't worry, they put everything out for people to see on their website. That means they're not doing anything wrong. ;)
