Anyone else impressed with Ruger's Handguns?

The reputation for toughness and reliability goes a long way with me. Being built to stomach the hottest ammo day after day even if it isn't the prettiest looking thing means more to me than any pretty gun sitting in a case because it just had to go back to a gunsmith for a tune up.

Guns are tools and Ruger makes good ones.

My 10/22 has rarely ever stayed home from a trip to the range.
My Ruger Standard is an absolute joy to shoot
the Ruger P-Series I've fired soak up recoil and eat the nastiest ammo without complaint.

Its the difference between a supermodel and a soccer player. Sure the model might be better eye candy but which one do you think you'll have more fun taking out?

Only Ruger handgun I have experience with is one of their P-series 9mm, and it feels kind of clumsy and awkward and muzzle heavy to me. But, I'm very inexperienced with handgun shooting, and Rugers have a reputation for being very beefy. I'm sure it's a fine gun, just not for me, with small hands and all.

I do own a Ruger 10/22 and love it, but this thread is about handguns, not rifles, so I'll leave it at that.

They're good, not great.

Definitely not on my list of top choices when shopping for a handgun.

Didn't care much for Bill Ruger, either.

One-fifth of my guns are Rugers. Except for my mini-Glock, Rugers are also the guns that I shoot the most.

They work.

The revolvers are awesome. The older model semi-autos are good but I'm not too sure about the P-345, SR-9 or the new .380. They look good but I haven't fired any of them. I love my P95 except the trigger is a little mushy.

The Ruger Old Army caplock revolver was one of the finest guns of its class. Indeed, many of our THR members share my views on its reliability and accuracy. It is a shame that Ruger discontinued that handgun some months ago. I truly believe that the ROA was an impressive black powder firearm.
