Anyone ever hear of HSM ammo?

Was at the gunshow up in Portland today, and was talking to some folks at HSM ammo, since they had some of the Aussie surplus .308 that I was looking for.

They also had their own line of ammo, which they claimed was mil-spec. In fact, they claimed that they provided ammo to the military at Fort Bragg, and also to various LE agencies and special ops forces, including the SEALs.

I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about this company, whether the ammo is good or not, and if their claims are true.

I've used it for practice, and had no problems.

Until they're better known, and have established a reputation I don't think I'd trust it for duty/self defense though. Just MNSHO!

I've used their stuff to feed some of my handguns in my pre reloading days. No problem.

I know they load their .50 stuff on the warm side but it's good stuff.

Anyone know if the military is using their ammo at Ft. Bragg and in Iraq as well?

I was very tempted to pick some up today, but my stockpile of ammo is all Aussie surplus, and I would prefer not to have two different types for my rifle.

If it is as good as they claimed (they said it is capable of 1/2 moa), I will have to pick some up at the next show.

OK...

HSM supplys most of our ammunition, including for our 457 and 50 Alaskan.

We buy their bulk ammo, as does Cabelas

Anchorage PD uses their bulk ammo

I have no time to post the result, but a security company up here did a test on their ammo vis a vis major brands..HSM was as or more accurate and more consistent...

I would have no hesitation whatsoever using their ammo for defense.

They also make a super 45-70 round with Kodiak Bullets.

Bill, the owner, is one of the coolest guys around and knows more about ammo than Bill Clinton knows about lying.

If anyone has an interest in doing a group buy on bulk ammo through them, let me know

Man, now I am regretting now picking up a case or two from them.

Their ammo was a fair bit less expensive than the Aussie surplus that I normally use, and that has been drying up lately. Starting to get hard to find.
