I’m starting to shop for a progressive/turret press and I just saw one of these. Just wondering if anyone had any experience with one. I’m actually pretty much decided on what I’m getting, and don’t think this is it. I’m just curious D658F9B0-310F-4F42-9F03-FDAC82EE9793.jpeg

It's the cats meaow of turret presses. If you have the cash then why not. I'll be over here on my rc rs3 doing my thing. Would I be happy to win one you bet....

A fellow PRS shooter from my home range has one, I almost bought it from him. I have a few other toys on my hit list ahead of it, but as a frequent flyer of turret press reloading, this one is on my list.

It uses Linear ball bearings on the ram so the ram has to be hardened so the bearing balls don't eat groves in it. That adds a lot of expense.
It also has ball bearings in the linkage.
But does that make it better than what we are using? I don't know because I can't afford one of them either.
I do know that I have a Rock Chucker ll that I've been using since the early 1990's and it still only has .006" runout on the ram when it's all the way up, after all these years.
This is my Starrett Last Word indicator on it's Starrett base.

I'm good with .006" in thirty years when it comes to paying $1275.00 to get maybe a .002" tolerance out of a linear bearing.
Run out on Rockchucker as of 2022.jpg

I just don't see the value here, but I bet the Zero press is smooth as silk but so is my Chucker.

I fondled one and even brought the stuff to measure deflection and such but they had the handle locked up like the one in your photo.

What I could feel, felt good but it’s at a price point for people that buy Rolex watches. Everyone knows a Timex keeps time better and longer without the need for movement, at a fraction of the price but the draw is the exclusivity that is the price point.

Kind of like having money to burn…

Makes me want to buy one just for bragging rights. Heck, I don’t even know what runout is, but it’s better than I would ever need to know. Sure would be pretty next to my co-ax. So pretty, I would be scared to use it. I bet there are those shooters that would need that extra level of precision. I am not one of those.

A Rolex is not a good analogy.
Anyone who has purchased a Rolex sport model at retail price can sell it for more than they paid it at any time going forward. This has held true for the last 40 years or more.
A 2 tone submariner that was selling for $5,250 in 2005 is still selling for $12,000 -$14,000 today on the secondary market.
Yes you could have invested that money and made far more than that if you wanted to but that’s not what this thread is about.

Don't have that press, but I did buy their funnel set with drop tube. Very well made stuff, and made in America which matters to me (not that most of the other presses aren't).

Does seem like a lot of $$ for that press. However, I do like simple things executed very well and it seems to do that. I'm not in the market for one though as I'm pretty set with old Stars.

I get along just fine with my old RCBS turret that I bought used 25 years ago for about half price of a new one. Sure looks like a wiz bang setup though. I would be afraid to use it at what it costs though as I can break an anvil with a rubber hammer at times LOL.
