Supposedly an old company that has started again, offering cheapish 1911s priced in between RIA's and SA GI's. One dealer is even local to me. Looks like your basic parkerized 1911 GI model but with lowered and flared ejection port, better sights, walnut grips. From a rather fuzzy but large pic it seems the finishing looks "OK"

Since I am looking for a low end 1911 to play around with this seemed like a worthwhile question to ask.

So anyone got the inside scoop on these?

I have seen it said that the current crop of "High Standard" 1911s ARE Philippine RIAs. If confirmed, just get one under its own brand name and save a little more money.

Now you mention it even from this angle that trigger guard looks familiar.....

You are probably right. Heck that makes at least 4 names these buggers are sold under......

Hi standard is made by Armscor

Have one not a bad gun, but it is made by Armscor of the phillipines.
maybe Hi Standard's National Match models and built in the US but the GI is not.

Buy a RIA and save yourself $100
