I recently inherited my Father-in-law's Elk rifle, a 300 WM bolt gun made by BSA and imported by Ithaca. From what I can find online it looks to be from 1976-78. Does anyone have information about these? It's a nice looking rifle!

Here are a couple tidbits I've found online:
Wiki
BSA CF2 action

I'd like to keep shooting it, maybe rebarrel it as I think the rifling is burnt out towards the end of the barrel (rod stops spinning when I push a jag & patch through it). Thanks in advance for any insight :)

Only thing I know about Birmingham Small Arms is that their rifles are better made than their motorcycles were.
