I'll let you know ;)
I was going to buy a more suitable gun for my ccw but I have decided that I like, and am comfortable with, my P89. I know that this will 'print' but I am not above the idea of a fanny pack. Am I under the correct assumption that whatever I can get to fit in this pack is ok to carry as long as it looks like a fanny pack. What problems would I run into with one of these. Thanks for all of your input.

P.S. Is the a more tacticool name for fanny pack.

I think your question is concerning the legalities of carrying in a fanny pack, correct?

So long as the gun stays concealed until you are ready to use it, you should legally be OK. I have female friends that carry in special pockets sewn into their purses. . .same concept; the gun isn't required to be on your belt, just concealed.

Don't keep your wallet in the same fanny pack and open it up at the convenience store to pay for your bottle of Coke.

As for problems, it might be really slow to draw from one (I haven't tried, but it seems like it would be difficult.) I think they make holster specific fanny packs that may alleviate this problem, but again I'm not sure. Some people will say that a fanny pack screams "gun" to society, but I don't find this to be the case. When I am walking with my friends they usually say something a lot less high road than "gun" when they see a guy wearing a fanny pack. So another problem is that people might make fun of you. Other than that you should be fine.

The only thing about fanny packs....

is they shout "gun", at least to other CHL folks. I use an over the shoulder bag made by Western Pack, model BD-1. It is thin with a couple pockets and the gun is easily accessable. I wear mine across my chest. As I am a guy, I get funny looks from "manly" men....lol.....I carry a Glock 27 or Steyr S40 in mine. Too bad they don't make one with the zipper access on the left side. But, when riding in a car, a right hand draw is easier to pull off.......chris3

It's not illegal to "print" as long as you're making a reasonable effort to conceal; e.g. a tight T-shirt doesn't cut it.

As a former non-gunnie I can testify that most people don't have a clue about fanny-packs and CCWs...

Absolutely true. The fanny packs and even vests are favorite items for anti-gun, hippies and suchlike. If you can tollerate an IWB or a tuckable IWB, you can carry just about anything.

nswtex, +1 for what mec says. You can hide anything. use the www.texaschlforum.com site. We who live in Texas use it a lot. There is a long thread there about this topic and cover garments. As far as the P89, you can hide that in a holster if you choose w/o any major trouble. I carried one for a short time until I got my 1911 set up together. The tight t-shirt sure will not work but you do not have to look as baggy & unkept as some think. T-shirt or undershirt. Then an IWB holster. I used a Don Hume PCCH for my P89. $50.00. Definately not a VMll but a good enough one to work well for several yrs of servince. Elastic waste band in a loose but not BAAAGGGYY Polo type shirt & I had no problem w/ print. Biggest thing I tell folks is get a holster that will stay put then leave it alone. No one will know it is there. longtooth over there too. Hope to see you in print local.:)

nsw,
I'm not trying to change the topic, but since you're in Anna, did you have any damage from the tornado or high winds Tuesday night?

Thanks for all the input it puts my mind at ease a little since the guy at the gunstore said ANY print is the same as having it in the open.

I was missed by the last tornado by about 300 yards but some of my fellow neighbors in Anna and Westminster were hit very hard and we are currently trying to help with the efforts to take care of them.
