Anyone feel the BHP safety isn't that positive?

holster?

I use a thumb break holster that prevents hammer from falling and guess I almost subconsciously now and then thumb hammer back to be sure it is ok...
never had that big a problem with the BHP, but more with an officer's model 45acp with an ambi.....but the 1911 type still has the extra margin with the grip safety....best to remember browning designed these things as combat pistols. (isn't a BHP or 1911 with the thumb safety in fire mode about same as a glock is all the time?)

It's the detent spring.

The C&S safety comes with a more pointed safety detent and a stronger spring.
I found that just using the spring solves basically all the mushy safety problems. I was able to thread two of the springs into the hole and now have a very positive CLICK! on the safety.
(Also, I removed the ambi portion, and recut the pin where the hole was.

I have a FM Hi Power

I have a FM Hi Power and the saftey is pretty positive. Not quite as good as my 1911, but I can easily tell when its on and off. I think allot of this has to do with the manufacturer of the pistol rather than the design.

steveracer beat me to it. It's all in the geometry of the detent, the pin and the strength of the spring (or springs...I hadn't thought of trying to fit TWO of them into the safety).
