Its silly to send out email with pieces of the gun shown in each. I would like to see the completed product, as obviously it's ready to ship. Todays picture of the grip was the most revealing, and looked different than anything out there I have seen.

If you are speaking about the MOD 2 I believe pictures and info is/are now available on the Springfield Armory website.

Hmm, I had not seen that, the Mod. 2 certainly is a little toad of a pistol. It kind of looks like they took some ergonomic and styling cues from the VP9 but with a much higher bore axis.

I like how they label the grip for you. In case you get confused about where to hold it.

Awhile back, when I was looking for a compact 9mm., I tried several different models, including the XD (M). Thought it was a decent size and had a good feel and balance to it but I found myself liking the Ruger SR9c just a little bit more and went with that instead. All along though I kept thinking it was too bad they couldn't have designed both pistols to be just slightly smaller overall than the compact versions.

Now it looks like SA did just that with the XD MOD.2. Slightly smaller and lighter with a more ergonomic grip design, but still with a 13 round mag capacity. I like the looks and shape of the new grip frame and will definitely check it out once it hits the dealer shelves.

Yeah, the "Grip Zone" is utterly ridiculous. Wouldn't buy one for that reason alone.

If someone needs a label on grip, they aren't smart enough to handle a firearm.

Seriously, what were they thinking? They ruined it............

They ruined it............

???? IMO the XD line has always been one of the ugliest guns on the market... that printing means little in that regard....

looks uncomfortable to shoot thou.....

Found this article which was released today, with a full gander of the MOD2:
It kind of looks like a Glock, with a Frankenstein forehead. :)

Granted, but they do tend to work at least. Now we have mixed slightly less ugly IMO, with pure stupidity.

I'll keep my XDs, but no thanks on the mod 2. I see no benefit. That was an awful lot of hype for nothing.

I wish they had put "Shoot Zone" on the trigger guard
"Recoil Zone, on the rear of the slide
"Blast Zone" near the muzzle
and of coarse "Ejection Zone" near the extractor

Can they get the barrel just a little higher? However, as much as it weighs, it probably doesn't flip too bad.

I'll pass.

Exactly! There is little that could be done to make that gun uglier. I can't believe anyone would choose appearance over function.

What prompted this I will never know. All this hype for a gun made with directions printed on it. Very disillusioned with all of the new offerings. It seems other than Walther and H&K, that they are just rolling out whatever they can think of and hoping that one will be the next big thing.
But that is not going to happen with gun wise consumers.

Fugly is the only way I can describe the Mod.2.

It makes me wonder what demographics Springfield is targeting to sell this thing to?

Might have to get one of these to match the Ruger SR22 pistol I have that's marked "SR22 Pistol".
