I guess I live outside of the mailing area for their flyers. Does anyone happen to have gotten one in the paper today? I'm curious as to what kind of "deals" they are having on their rifles, and if there's a certain time that you have to be there during. Any info would be great!

TIA!

I got one in todays paper.

One of the sections says:

great selection of vintage rifles:
$80 each for: 91-30, M-95, M-44, Turk 1903, M-38, K-31, Yugo 8mm.

Thats pretty cheap, so I think i might buy a k-31 tomorrow or maybe a yugo. Not sure what a m 95 or a turk 1903 is though.

Haven't shot one, but I'm told that they have plenty of kick but are conveniently sized (have handled one, nice carbine feel to it).

I have one; purchased about 4 years ago I guess.

Ammo (8x56mm) is hard to come by. From what I gather it was pretty much going out the door by WWII, only being used in support roles or something along those lines.

The only ammo I've tried it in was surplus stuff. It bound up pretty good. Myself and my shooting buddies were totally unable to open the bolt unless we RAMMED it on the shooting bench at the range. I gave it maybe four shots and called it good. Haven't touched it since then.

Chamber didn't seem to be dirty, so I don't know if it was the 1940's era ammo expanding too much in the chamber or what might be wrong with it. Eventually I'll get around to figuring it out. :)

I hit 2 stores this morning, selection wasn't very great- no m95s, no turks, a few M44s, a few ratty m38s, no 'non-mtchell's' m48s, ended up picking up another K-31 that I had pased over the last time Dunham's had a sale- brand new looking barrel with a dinged crown, I can fix the crown, and for $80 it wasn't too bad of a deal.

The best deals on milsuprs are probably on their AKs, the single stack WASRs for around $180 if you wanted a cheap plinker.

I went to check out their K31s, but they only had 3, and weren't in the best shape. I'm just going to order a nice walnut stock one off the internet.

I did "preorder" a WASR single stack for $189. They didn't have any of the solid stock w/ pistol grip left, only the dragonov style (or as the ad said, "dragonoff"). I basically paid for the gun today, so I got it for $189, but when their shipment comes in next week, I can go and pick out the one I like best.

You were lucky they had K-31's, went to two Dumhams here in town, and they were out of them.....Bummer

I am a manager at a Wisconsin Dunham's. To answer some questions, the Turkish 1903 is a turkist 8mm mauser. It is a very nice gun, and cheap. But it is only in a few random stores. By the way, the next time you are going to go in for one of our doorbuster sales, call ahead the day before to see what they have. You will usually get lucky and find some rifles in good shape, but some will be near destroyed. And if you really want a good selection on the guns, go to one of the large stores. There is usually one around a major city. Call ahead and ask if it is a small store or a large store. The larger stores have a massive collection of guns, really fun stuff. The best times for these gun sales are the black friday, day after Thanksgiving, and day before Christmas. But we do have random good sales all year round, especially in summer.

Satisfied with Dunhams

I bought both my K-31 and WASR-10 at Dunhams in Richmond, IN. On each occasion, the guy behind the counter was very helpful and I am very pleased with each rifle. I don't know if Richmond Dunhams is a small or big store but it seemed to have a decent selection of mil-surp rifles.
That's more than I can say for the ginormous and overpriced Gander Mountain in Huber Hts. OH, which had a grand total of 6 mil-surps in rotten condition and absolutely no AKs or AK accessories. You will be hearing about my GM experience in another post.
