Anyone have a gun that fits "just right"?

I've never been fitted for one but can usually find fault with virtually any factory rifle. Some it's the pistol grip, others it's the butt or comb. Like most shooters, I make do with what is the closest. For me, the Winchester 1895 is a very good fit but I thought they were butt-ugly until I handled one. I have two Ruger 77's, even though their pistol grips should be longer and leaner with less curve to be comfortable. The best fitting rifle I've ever handled was several years ago. It was a custom shop Model 70 Safari Grade in .375H&H. Not only was it a beautiful rifle with a soft matte finish and nicely figured, finely checkered walnut but it handled and shouldered wonderfully. The express sights came right into view effortlessly. I could easily see myself doing some of my best shooting with this rifle. Unfortunately, the $3800 price tag was way out of my range at the time.

Of all my rifles, the Weatherby Mark V Ultra Lights are my go to rifles. (.280 Remington and .243 Winchester.) They fit me very well and shoot quite good with my handloads. They are very ergonomic and quickly shoulder for snap shots, if need be.

My buddy in Colorado swears by Kimber rifles. He had a Kimber in .308 Win but traded up for a .325WSM. It too, I believe was in a Kimber. He did take a nice bull elk this year so it works well for him. To be quite honest, I've never shouldered a Kimber because neither Cabelas or Bass Pro have them in their inventories. (Unless being sold under consignment). Regardless, I will look at them the next time I have the opportunity. Thanks for sharing your comments.

My Thompson Center Encore fits me best, but I have not shot more than seven rifles, I think. People don't share their rifles where I shoot and I don't own that many.

I know this is the rifle section, but for me the most comfortable shooting best fitting gun I have ever owned is a Kahr K40. Truly an extension of my hand.

For a rifle, my Remington 760

Fit

I have a bunch of rifles that "fit" me comfortably/well. Two .22rf target rifles both with adjustable stocks....A FWB prone rifle and an Anschutz Biathlon rifle. There is also a Rossi .357 lever carbine that I shoot well because it is so handy and easy to use. My Colt HBar is another gun that fits just right whether prone or standing. There is an 1873 Trapdoor Carbine that is a joy to hold and easy to shoot and a Rizzini Express rifle, an O/U .30-06.
My least comfortable gun is a Russian Moisin rifle -- military stock beats me up, especially when shooting prone.
My most comfortable firearm is not a rifle but a flintlock fowler made to fit me by Mike Brooks. That gun just floats up to the shoulder.

As expected, everyone has a different opinion. I favor 45ACP pistols and have tried all manufacturers (owned XD, SW, Ruger) but never went back once I shot a Sig P220 - especially the Compact version. Right out of the box it felt great, like it was built exactly for my hand. I recently purchased a P227, and while it is a great shooter - so far, it doesn't fit as well as the P220.

The OP said "gun", so yes-

my only handgun, a WW2 German Sauer 38H. The modern Sig 230/232 looks almost like a clone, except the Hahn/hammer is exposed.
As for rifles, my Enfield "Jungle Carbines".

John Browning understood the way to make a gun fit the human body. Every design of his I've tried shoulders like it was made just for me. Bill Ruger was pretty good too.

In 1972 I bought a Ruger 77, the 4th or 5th centerfire of my life, and it was a rifle that, I could pick a target (rock, pine cone, spot on the barn door...), bring that rifle to my shoulder and be DANG close to right on. One of us was just the right size and shape for the other,I don't know which, but it was a good match!

Lever-guns in general fit me well. I once had a Ruger Mini-14 that fit like a glove, unlike AR's - but I digress.......

I made up this 20 balls to the pound, smoothbore fusil de chasse (gun of the hunt) up years ago. When mounted to the shoulder it is like it has eyes of it's own, as it is always right on target. Do not let the 46" swamped barrel fool you, the piece is light weight and superbly balanced.

The fit of any gun is critical for me. If it doesn't fit me, I won't buy it, be it rifle, shotgun or pistol. Only bought one rifle I hadn't handled before purchase and that was a Kimber 84 M Varminter .204. Excellent rifle.

Marlin 1894S 44 mag. Don't know if dimensionally it "fits me" by rifle standards, but it is the best feeling, carrying, and shooting rifle I have ever owned. Of course it's also my newest rifle so I am still on the "honeymoon".

One of the best feeling rifles that surprised me the first time I picked one up was the H & R Buffalo Classic 45-70. I just felt like it really fit and would be a hoot to shoot, although I've heard they can be pretty uncomfortable due to recoil and that iron butt plate.

My CZ 527 carbine. Shoulders and balances beautifully. Also this CZ 'Farmer' 22 I fondled at the gun shop, darn near shouldered itself.

I am a smaller-ish guy, so I tend to like carbine length type long arms. And single stack pistols, and revolvers with thin grips.

Out of all my guns....two come to mind. A nylon 66, and an M1 carbine, both light enough for me and no recoil. Had some surgery and am now very recoil sensitive. Shooting anything harder hitting then something along these lines requires a pad, and in some cases I can only shoot some from a lead sled.
