Anyone Have a Ruger Magnum Hunter?

It is just a Hawkeye in a Hogue stock with a muzzle brake. I've never owned that exact rifle, but have had several Rugers in the past. The Hawkeyes as a rule tend to be more accurate than the older versions. They improved the trigger considerably with the Hawkeye.

I've never owned one that shot groups good enough to take photos of and brag about on the internet, but all have been perfectly acceptable for hunting purposes. Usually 3 shots right at 1" at 100 yards and often a little better. Rarely worse.

I have a slight preference for the Winchester 70, but any of the Ruger 77 series are a close 2nd. I'd have no doubts about buying one and hunting with it.

I'm not a fan of muzzle brakes nor Hogue stocks. But that is personal preference and both can be changed.

Some groups shot with the 308 All Weather Hawkeye I used to own. Top photo is at 100. There are 2 groups at 200 yards on the bottom, one after adjusting the scope. That is 3 groups shot on the same day averaging right at .75 MOA. I can live with that.

Thanks J. I love those Hogue stocks myself, one came on the 375 Ruger Alaskan I used to own. I couldn't believe how well it mitigated felt recoil, and ergonomically it was a great fit for me.

I really like the current M70s, I had one in 30-06 (blue and wood), except I don't like attaching scopes with screws to the receiver, and I never could get comfortable with the cheek swell on the stock. Unfortunately the extreme weather M70s have the cheek swell on their synthetic stocks too.
