Anyone have function issues with neutered Glock 20 mags?

I recently picked up a couple of 10-round mags for my G20 to comply with my temporary move to CA. I never had a single failure with any ammo in this gun using the standard capacity mags, and all of a sudden it developed failures to eject on the last round using these restricted capacity mags. Anyone else have issues with these mags... particularly in the G20?

The ones that I have work fine. Have never had a problem with a Glock factory mag.

No problems in the Glock 10mm. I use 10 round and 15 rounders.

New or used mags? What number is on the follower?

Failure to eject? What loads are you shooting?

FTE could be something other than mags.

The followers have a #2 on them. The reason I thought it might be the mags is because it only happens when using these mags, and the FTE happens by the spent case being lodged back into the feed lips as the case exits the chamber.

It has been happening only with hotter loads like the DoubleTap, and my hand rolled hunting loads. It does not happen with milder loads like the PMC plinkers or when using my .40 SW conversion.

It could also be an issue with the extractor assy. I just received a new extractor, depressor plunger, spring and bearing that I will throw in to see if that helps. However, the gun barely has 1000 rounds through it... hard to imagine those parts could have gone out already.

I have had some function problems in my Glocks with DT ammo, but not in the 10mm loadings. I think it was 357 Sig and 45 ACP. If it only happens with DT, I would refrain from using it until you find out the problem.

Hmmm...the last round feeds and fires, but won't eject? It would make more sense if it was the second to the last round or if the last round didn't feed right. Still, my hunch is that it's related to the hot ammo increasing slide speed/force and effecting the lock timing somehow. You shoot 40s in the same mags with no problems?

Yes... it is one of favorite things about this gun... just a barrel swap lets you fire .40's.

Still, my hunch is that it's related to the hot ammo increasing slide speed/force and effecting the lock timing somehow.

I thought that might be it as well, but the 22# recoil spring I installed seems to handle hot loads really well.

The strange thing is that I just received a new extractor assy, and the spring loaded bearing is different than the one that was originally installed. If the factory accidentally installed the wrong bearing to begin with, that might cause some issues.

No problem in my G22 or G35 for 10 rounders, but I'm in CA so that all they will let me play with. Are they factory mags?

Glock may have sent you "upgrade" parts. They do this sometimes. They changed the ejector a while back.

Yes... I never dared to try aftermarket Glock mags.

When this failure occurs, it does not lock back on the slide stop. Instead the empty case is forced back into the mag feed lips and the slide is held open by pinching the empty case between the breech face and the feed ramp.

That is why I thought it might be mag related, since the mag follower does not seem to come up fast enough to do it's job on the last round.

It is the darnedest thing... I've never seen this type of failure before, so it is sort of hard to pinpoint the cause.
