Hi there
Looking for info on A.B.Stiga - Verken rifles, in particular the buffalo model in 30-06. One has come up for sale locally - cheap - which fits my budget, but I have never heard of this make before. Were they a quality rifle etc. I'm pretty sure they are Swedish. Any help appreciated.
Thanks

I don't know anything about the rifle, except that I think Stiga built rifles based on Swedish Mauser 96 actions. Whether they also built rifles from scratch, I don't know.

I just wanted to say that if you search for info on it on the 'net, the name of the company is simply Stiga. "AB" is just a Swedish abbrevation like "Ltd" in English.

This is the company, they're no longer in the gun business.

Stiga Rifle

Commercial version of the 96 Mauser based on a long action, I have one in 30-06 and have seen them in 270 Winchester. With modifications such as timney rrigger and bedding job they are capable of MOA accuracy provided they have a good barrel. Being a clone of the 96 they are a cock on closing design. This can be changed to cock on closing with a Dayton Traister kit but I can't see any advantage in that.
Lock time is a little slow but this can be sped up with a higher powered firing pin spring. Other options available are a low profile safety as the normal Mauser safety is a pain in the arse if you want to use a scope.
