One scope over looked here and else where, the high end Bushnell Elite 3200 10x40, also their Elite 4200.

These are made at the same factory in Japan, also can handle recoil from .375 H&H magnum & .50cal.

Excellent glass, comparible to the ones mention in this post so far, the 3200 go for around $200, the 4200 $300 on up.

The Bushnell 10x is a nice scope for under $200. I've owned some in the past and I also own/owned some SS scopes. I would go with the SS over the Bushnell 10x for one reason only. The SS uses a 30mm tube and the 10x is a 1" tube, which allows more light transmission.

The SS will hold up to your 50 BMG, so buy with confidence. You may want to think about the higher magnification such as the 16x or the 20x for those LR shots.

I ordered the 16x scope and the mil dot master. I'll let you guys know what I think when I get it. It will be a couple months before I get to actually test it out.

I'm interested in a 10x SS scope for my rem 700 30-06. Is there anywhere to get them besides swfa.com?

Trying to avoid sales tax here... :(

just read a review on their latest scope, unlimited , unconditional, lifetime guaranty, made of titanium, dropped from several stories, almost damage proof, super glass, all the bells and whistles. 6000.00 seemed a bit much for me though, I can buy two used cars for that.

Bender:
SWFA has the rights and is the sole distributor for the Super Sniper.
The only way to avoid buying from them would be to buy one used from an individual.

The SS holds it's value so well, that they sell almost as much used as they do new.
I've seen used rear focus 10x go for $250 or so.

ok, thanks. That is what I was wondering - if swfa was the only seller.

If I get a new one, I guess I will have to break my rule of not paying sales tax over the internet...

can someone clear up something for me? I don't know a lot about scopes, most of my rifles are milsurps with iron sights. I know what Parallax is, but do "fixed power" scopes also have the problem, or just variable power scopes?

According to this pic on the swfa website, the SS10x42 model has "rear parallax adjustment". How is parallax adjustment marked... in yards? I've never owned a parallax adjustable scope.

I notice that there are two SS10x42 models - one called SS10x42M, which has side focus and is $100 more, the other with rear focus and called SS10x42.

Do both of those have "parallax adjustment"?

sorry for all the questions, been shooting for many years, but I'm pretty much a scope-noob...

I was almost about to get a SuperSniper, but instead opted for the Nikon Monarch which has been on a sale. $550-$600 models going for $315.

Bender:
Both the 10x SS's have parallax adjustment, one like I have is rear (in meters) the other is side focus.
Both do the same thing, but I prefer the rear focus model because I'm a "lefty", and like to adjust my focus with my right hand, while keeping my trigger finger by the trigger.

Some scopes have "fixed" parallax setting of 100-150 yards, while others offer adjustable, like the SS.
With the Super Sniper, it dials down to 10 meters all the way to infinity.

The parallax settings on almost all scopes are never really accurate because there are so many different factors and situations to consider.
I never use the "numbers" on the dial to achieve a good sight picture. It's just a reference.

Good parallax link.

Parallax adjustment on a fixed scope, just drill a hole dead center of your Butler flip up cap, kinda like a peep sight.

You'll be amazed how quick you'll be able to make use of it, vs messing with a side knob.
