Looking to add a dot to my SP101.

I know a drill and tap and a rail will be necessary.

Have any of you tried this ? Any suggestions for who to do the work ?

Thanks

I really don't know why you would do this. Pretty much defeats what the SP-101 is about. However, if you insist, I would discuss the matter with Marc at Gemini Customs. He is the master of customizing the SP-101 and probably could do a rail. Or just save yourself grief and aggravation and order a Nightstalker from Marc. If you can't hit your target with this gun, you might as well just settle for some plastic auto rail gun.

PS adding a rail means another holster nightmare. Be prepared for up to a two year wait.

It does not defeat what the SP101 is about at all.

Where in hell did you get that ?

The SP101 is about shooting. I plan to load a variety of bullets in this gun so I know damned well with no elevation adjustment available with the stock sights it's going to be severaly limited with regard to accuracy and shooting to point of aim. I already have several different height front sights, but would really like to get away from pulling out a hammer and punch when I'm at the range just to stay on POA.

A red dot will allow for windage and elevation adjutments and make it easy for newbies to learn. Not to mention the fun factor of having a 4" 32 H&R in such a well made gun.

It will allow for loading a wide range of bullets for plinking, small game hunting and general shooting on the cheap.

Red dot / rail on a SP101? :what: ok to each their own I guess. I just wonder why so many ammo/bullet variety? Why not pick a load and settle with that one. At the ranges this gun will likely shoot well at there won't be much difference in the POI with the little .32's.

Well...

That's true... but...

I bought this gun so I could shoot cast bullets. I am really into casting my own and reloading, so this was the only available option in a DA in 32 H&R even remotely affordable.

The SP101 is miles stronger than any of the Smith offerings (own one) and a whole lot cheaper.

Purely just a fun gun, a nice small but very strong little package in one of my all time favorite calibers.

The lack of elevation adjustment is what I'm hoping to deal with in part, but I also think a red dot on a fun gun just goes together like good beer and BBQ.

Looking for some options other than have a local shade tree smith take a drill to it and hose it up.

These are the primary reasons, but I'm also not getting any younger and a dot allows for easier shooting at longer ranges (for me).

The 32 H&R is quite an excellent small game gun as well and I will be doing a bit of rabbit and squirrel hunting with it.
