Anyone know what gun this is?

wtfgun.jpg

I saw it on some news photography website (i dont remember what site but I think the picture MIGHT have been from the associated press) last night and decided to crop the picture to just the gun, the full picture was some arabic guy with a gasmask holding it and the site said an "armed pakistani militant during a recent standoff" but I have no clue what the hell gun it is, it looks to be based off the AK47 as it seems to have an AK receiver and similar upper but then it has like an M16 carrying grip rear sight but like an MP5A5 style stock and rear receiver end, it has like an AK74 mag and weird foregrip with similar-to-an-mp5 front sight and a similar flash suppressor... What is this thing? Something some individual made or something from some odd ball manufacturer? For a second I thought it was a Sig assault rifle but it totally doesnt look it...

may be a hybrid that came out of the khyber pass

looks alot like that hk .223 mp5 cant remember the name of it though

The HK53? naww this has like an AK receiver and an m16 style rear sight... its super weird

HK/G3 collapsible stock
AK mag and receiver
M16 handle, rear sight
M16 looking birdcage flash hider

It's Mark 43 Franken-Beast......

There are a LOT of individuals who make firearms in Pakistan and that general area - everything from muzzleloaders to .303 Enfields to AKs, with, of course, varying degrees of quality - and I'd wager that one of them made this gun.

Doesn't look like it.

Not the first model MINSAS, but try this one...

Magazine, handguard, and front sight tower are all completely wrong for the MINSAS. It's most definitely and positively not that one.

I'm strongly leaning towards Kyber Pass bastardization. Looks to me like an Iranian HK-style collapsible stock, a chopped-down M16A1 handguard, a birdcage flash hider, and an AK74 magazine. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it's a highly modified AK74 that someone made into a wannabe M4. If you look closely at the sight plane, it's obvious that the front sight is mounted too low to line up with the carry handle/rear sight (assuming that actually is a chopped-off M16A1 handle). Doubtful whether they figured out a way to mount a collapsible HK stock over the AK safety selector, so it's probable that the stock is fixed in position.
