I am curious if any member has successfully developed shot loads using vintage components. IE powder, nitro card, fiber cushion wads, shot charge, overshot card and crimp. I am not looking for high performance or productivity. Just want to play around in my cave and use time, maybe even go the route of black powder and brass cases(already load for a couple of cartridge Sharps and a Ruger old Army)
I digress, the focus of this query would be the loading of traditional components into modern plastic(of which I have in abundance) and smokeless powders and a fold crimp. I ask this question as it is becoming difficult to procure some of my favored modern wad columns.
Is it possible to develop a load using a known powder to propel a calculated total weight of ejecta(powder, wads and shot) Or am I venturing into dangerous ground.
thank you
