NO on the shotgun for inside home defense. Too easy to have it deflected or even taken away by a perp around the corner.
I humbly suggest that you do not know anything about the defensive use of shotguns.

A valid concern, but Cornered Cat has the answer to that problem:Too easy to have it deflected or even taken away by a perp
Dear Gunhilda,
If an attacker tries to take my gun away and use it against me, what should I do?

Dear Worried,
Pull the felon repulsion lever. You should find it just underneath your trigger finger.
Been thinking about one of those. Have you shot it much? Any problems?
Anyone ever think about penetration factors or geometry of fires? What happens with a man stopper when you miss the man (does little Johnny get one in the headlights instead)? If you live in an apartment will you kill a neighbor accidentally? Just asking. Anyone have some good answers?
What kind of 9mm do you have? There has been a lot of flack about the internals on the FNP causing inconsistant triggers and other problems. As far as I know, the problem has not been fixed by FN and it carries over to the 45. If your 9mm is a Glock, Sig, or M&P I strongly suggest you stick with it......just one man's opinion.
The FNP-45 is a fine choice.I'm planning on selling one of my 9mm's to upgrade to a FNP-45.
