Bushmaster225 "I hope you know what your doing"

I hear that.
I'm the kind of person that thinks if one is good, a dozen is better:D

I just ordered my 10th and 11th Makarov.

I haven't received the first CMP M1 and I'm thinking about a 2nd one.

BTW
Good looking rifles.

Worn Out Piece of ? Hey Topical Z

Why not buy a new Springfield Inc. M1 for $1100, instead of from the CMP. With your attitude why not just not buy anything from CMP and leave some of the like new arsenal rebuilt late model Springfields for people who appreciate what CMP does. If you want to be serious get a Danish Service Grade with a VAR barrel for $425. but you will probably complain about the dings and dents on the stock even though your getting one of the most accurate M1s currently around at a bargin price.

Its not my attitude, its just the facts-read THEIR description of what you MAY receive if you get a $500.00 one. From their website.

"Genuine U.S. Government rifles manufactured 45 to 60 years ago and condition varies greatly from very good to very well worn. Most have been rebuilt/refinished one or more times while in military service and have seen heavy use by military personnel. That use is exhibit-ed by worn and mixed colors of the Parkerized finish; there may be some minor pitting on the metal parts, especially on the receiver under the wood; wood that is basically sound but may have minor hairline cracks and may be well used with nicks, bruises and gouges; the three wood components may vary in type of wood (walnut and birch) and condition; components may be a combination of various manufacturers and from different time periods; a barrel that is used, but with a gauged throat erosion of less than 5 that is well within U.S. Army standards. These may not be pretty rifles, but each is authentic. Selection below only guarantees the receiver was produced by the manufacturer listed. All other parts may have been produced by other manufacturers. Shipping and Handling $20.95 per rifle."

And this turns you off... how???

CMP, the best deal on genuine USGI M1's ANYWHERE.

best to all,
Swampy

I got mine a couple of years ago all i can say is whoohoo, seriously mine was rebuilt in 1964 at letterkenny army depot. how do i know this i researched it, it may not win a prize for good looks but i think it looks great,i stripped the stock myself and put three coats of boiled linseed oil and boy it looks good:D :D . Oh by the way it has a 42 reciever and 42 barrel.Yes its a mutt gun but it's my mutt gun:D

I'll keep you posted. Today I ordered 2 Service Grade M1's, one 1903 and one 1903A3.

By the way, the South Carolina CWP requires 50 rounds of range firing and should suffice to meet that requirement. I am an NRA Instructor, so I xeroxed my instructor card.

Clemson:D

Clemson,

Texas's CHL is also 50 rounds.

You Texas shooters with a CHL, you may have your marksmanship requirement met to get a CMP rifle.

Check it out.:)

"Very Well Worn" and "USGI" sound a hell of a lot better to me than "cast in Lithgow".

Tropical Z, maybe I can't convince you otherwise, but I'll try. My Service Grade H&R M1 arrived in excellent shape. Dark gray, nearly black parkerizing on the reicever and barrel. Very little finish wear on the gas cylinder. Has mostly SA parts, but original HRA marked barrel.

Stock had some dings and dents, but good overall finish. Functions perfectly. Seems like it was inspected and/or rebuilt, then put away until I purchased it.

An H&R M1 in this condition in the retail market could fetch $700 easily. I know this because the last gun show I went to had a selection of H&Rs, and SA (govt)
M1s that would grade, in my opinion, at the lower end of service grade. They were starting at $625.

Anyway, I guess what I'm getting at is you will get a real, functioning, USGI M1 Garand with USGI parts from the CMP. For what you would pay to a dealer (retail) you could probably buy the CMP rifle re-park it, and put a new stock on it.

But if you don't, leaves more for me!:neener:
