Anyone own a Springfield 1911?

My Springfield Mil-Spec is the only auto I have that has never had a malfunction at all. (unless you count my AK)

I would recommend the Mil-Spec over the GI, not much difference in price for the upgrades.
Here are the differences between the two

I have a Springfield Lightweight Operator with a 4in barrel. It's is by far the most accurate auto I have, better than my Sigs or XDs. While I've only shot ~250 rounds thru it, there has been no FTFs or FTEs. Great gun.

Well, the Lancer, this is a story like so many other stories, except this one only sorta ends in a happy ending. You see I know this kid, a good kid mine you, who always wanted a TRP. He would dream about owning a TRP. He even slept with a SA 9mm -911 under his pillow hoping it would grow up into a .45acp TRP 1911. So one day, like so many others, after hearing his pleas of how he would love it, cherish it, care for it and name George, I capitulated. Now he did not get off scott free mined you but both he and I think the deal worked; And he got the TRP.
Now as per my last post I did not get my GSR as it was so lovingly absconded by my wife. Sure I can shoot it whenever I like but it's just not the same. Thank goodness for the STI but now it needs a few things for adjustment.
(Day dream scene) Man that TRP was perfect.......

sounds like a good story the hudge. the TRP is an amazing 1911, i mean i have one, but the real sadness to the story, was the loss of that gsr, those are also very good shooting 1911's

Well I'm sure if he ever gets rid of it hell come to me first.

Look, look! Now I have a quote from a great American too.

I have a custom shop Springer. Great gun. Basically like a pro, but with some custom touches...

It does have 25 LPI hand checkering on the front strap - I just like Pachmeyer grips, however...

I have a SA GI 1911 that works great. I had a SA Loaded stainless model that was also a great gun. I currently have a TRP that I just put 500 rounds through and it is awesome, but a bit over priced.
I have owned a SA MC Operator and it was also an excellent pistol. The only issue I had with it was that it was a little undersprung. An 18.5# recoil spring solved the failure to return to battery issues I was having while in the initial break in stage.

Black Stainless Loaded here. I had SA do an action job ($80.)
This pistol is a shooter and a looker.

BTW...SA customer service is the best.

Yes, a Loaded. Got it and posted on it last week. Fine, fine gun. Very tight. Very accurate. Nice looking to boot.

There is, however, an annoying but fixable problem that you may want to watch for. The plunger next to the slide release won't let lever go back into the gun easily. In fact, I have to wedge a credit card between the plunger and lever to return to the lever through its hole. If the friction of another hundred rounds or so doesn't wear the plunger down, I'll file it down. It was the excellent advice of other posters who had the same problem that made this an easy fix.

I've got a stainless loaded government that I've owned for about 8 years now. Love it and will most likely never part with it. I don't carry it very much due to size and weight but I would think it would be hard to go wrong with a Springfield.
