I do....and have for 8 years or so...Love it....

If paintball can teach anything, it will teach you how much you DO NOT want to be in a gunfight....It will teach you just how easy it is to get yourself all shot up.

However it has also taught me some gun and trigger control under stressed situations...I dont know how the stress level differs between an ACTUAL gun fight and paintball, but I know that with 30 seconds left in a finals qualifying game, being the last member of your team on the field, and having 4 opponents coming after you...I can hear the blood pounding in my ears...my hands shake furiously....and my legs quiver even 15 minutes AFTER the game has finished...Adrenalin city!!!

Having electronic triggers with 1/4 millimeter of travel, and a couple grams trigger pull will teach you to keep your finger off the trigger in a hurry...Your toes cant take that much punishment...and it will also teach you the importance of keeping the weapon aimed in a safe direction at all times.

It has also taught me the importance of firing from cover...snap shooting, shot placement, and follow up shots...I think that it is all invaluable stuff if you ever had to use a weapon for self defence (God forbid).

Anyway, if you havent figured yet...I like pictures, so here are some pics of my current peices...The Impulse, and the Shocker, both electronic guns...

The shocker select fire capable of 11.2 shots per second on full atuo *the limit of the gun's microprocessing capabilities

The Impulse capable of 15 shots per second in SEMI auto...as long as you can get your trigger finger going that fast, which actually isnt all that hard. (1/4 mm pull).

Shocker:

Impulse: notice both guns have 1911 style grip frames with 1911 Ajax pearlite grips. Very UN tactical

My buddies (and girlfriend) and I play backyard ball when we get the chance. Most of us have Stingrays (dont laugh, I've got a small machine shop and mine are no where near stock :D ) or entry level Spyder-type guns. We dont play that often anymore, though, due to college and all of us getting into real guns.

While the paintball markers are very different from real firearms, and the muscle-memory you develop is going to probably only be helpfull on the paintball field, I will back anyone who says:

If paintball can teach anything, it will teach you how much you DO NOT want to be in a gunfight....It will teach you just how easy it is to get yourself all shot up.

Because it has exactly been my experience as well.

- Paintball is definitely somewhat instructive as to a small taste of what "The fog of war" is all about.

- How easy it is to get shot in a major firefight. And how often it is on your head, or an exposed leg untill you learn to look quickly and use cover effectively.

- The difference between concealment and cover.

- How teamwork, planning, and communication is very important. The team that does wins, the team that dosen't loses.

- You grow eyes on the back of your head, and learn not to let yourself get flanked.

- How easy "friendly fire incedents" can happen if you don't have the afore mentioned planning and communication.

After learning how to do all of that effectively, you realize just how hard it would be to do all the above in a real firefight where the fear, surprise, and stress level is infinitely higher.

It's a fun game that is also a good way to gain some perspective.

yall already said it all. But yeah I have a tippy 98 custom and play whenever I can find someone to play with.:D

I'm a huge paintball fan and an amature "airsmith".
I used to play big time. Captained several times. One team I had down in St George, we went to this big tournament and played some huge pro-team I think it was Team USA or something... We tied. No coverage because the cats from the paintball rags stayed in Vegas instead of coming up to Ceder City where we had over a foot of snow. Dang it. That was 8 years ago. The last marker I had was a customized Cocker. Nothing flashy looking... a sleeper. But it was tricked out inside hard core... low pressure kit, venturi bolt, and about 300 bucks worth of other goodies and custom barrels.

I still have my mask system. V-Force Shield. BEST MASK EVER.

i have been known to squander precious bling bling on liquid filled orbs of doom. Heres my Team:

2 weekends ago we started buliding a scale model of a basalista with a 2 inch internal PB cannon for the Twin Towers Senario at EMR this June

Hey George, wanna play a weekend senario in VA next weekend?
DBD could use a tactical Alien to open up some WA on the Humans

Theres always a few backup markers in the bunker

heres the game thread:

I shoot a Benjamin-Sheridan P-68-AT with a custim 24" barrel (rifled) and a homemade silencer (it works VERY well), with a custom sling, and dual scopes (one tube type, and one side-mount lazer), and remote Nitrogen kit, buttstock, expansion chamber, and all home-built...

I play sniper, with great success... I can even turn it up over 350FPS and reliably shoot LONG distance without breaking paintballs... (using good paint)

it is an awesome sport... but FAR from real combat conditions...

Of course its far from real combat, but as the others have said -- it does give you a taste.

We play "sandlot" games on a buddy's property -- a couple of densly wooded acres. Most of us have modified and tricked out Stingrays.

After playing paintball for years, I went to a company laser tag game. What a disappointment! When there is no pain upon getting shot a whole lot of the fun is gone!

I played once for about 5 hours, some of the most fun I've had outdoors. Man was I hurtin the next day. I'd play more but the place shut down. I can see what you mean good training for combat stress without actually joining the military.

I've done the backyard thing too. OOODLES O' Fun! :D Plus, I learned the importance of proper use of cover & that wearing the protective gear....them things can sting w/o it

I played frequently up until about last year, when I got my first firearms. Now all my money is spent on ammo, not paint. I still play when I get the chance, though. I play pump, because it's more challenging than playing with a semi auto and you save TONS of cash on paintballs. Besides, there's nothing more gratifying when you take some dude with an electro-doodad painthose out with a single shot. Here's a pic of my paintgun, a modded Armson Pump.

I played everyweekend through the winter for the last couple years. Just a backwoods set up with my buddies. Most guys have pirhanas or tipmann 98's. A few sprang for high end stuff, and generally get shot up pretty bad :D
Only made it once this year though, just been too busy. Hopefully we'll get some spring matches in when the weeds are nice an thick.

I love playing paintball, i been playing for 12 years. :D My first marker was a splatmaster:barf: . Now i have 2 trick out spiders and i will be going full auto after i get the e-sprit grip:D

I will be play on Sunday:neener:

And, some of us have been known to use paintball guns to mark structrual features on gigantic buildings so we can point others to the locations!

I'd be down for paintball if it wasn't for two reasons:
1. I'm no longer in VA.
2. 2 weeks ago I broke my right ankle again. (The bones are like glass)

If anyone here is in the paintball industry I have a new marker concept that I would love to see come to fruition. You can have the design, as long as I get 20 of the markers when they start production. :D

BLACK POWDER PAINTBALL GUNS

You should ask BillLl about the double-barrell black powder paintball guns he has made.

It changes the dynamics of the game dramatically. Rather than running around doing "spray and pray," as I've seen some players do, having only two shots -- and a smoke cloud that gives away the shooter's position -- encourages stealth and marksmanship.

most painball markers are set to 270-300 fps for daylight play

a LAWS is purposely slowed down as they tend to have a 2 inch or greater bore

you don't want to crack a mask lens

I had a buddy invite me out anout a year ago... I bought some gear, nothing too fancy... got a JT Excelerator II and a 20oz tank. Some paintballs, I was ready!! But it got cancelled and I have never actually played. No one else seems to be into it around here, most of my friends seem to have taken to just talking about doing it... I really want to get out there.

MAybe in a couple months??? who knows
