My primary hunting rig is a S&W performance center two tone 629-5 with the integral Weaver rail on the top of the barrel. I usually hunt open sighted because the gold bead is very easy to pick up in all conditions and I like open sights whenever possible.
Lately I've been thinking of mounting either a 2x scope or red dot on it. I have the Burris Speed Dot, but it just looks too big and klunky for my taste and I'm not convinced I need or want a traditional 2x optic.
So that brings me to the new Burris FF III - looks like it has some nice improvements over the II and I really like the size. The 3 MOA dot would be perfect for hunting IMO.
So is anyone using one? (a II or III) How has it held up for you?
Also, does anyone know off hand if the picatinny mount is compatible with a Weaver rail? Seems like it should be since it only has one cross bolt for mounting..
Thanks in advance - Chad
