Now, this is a silly gun but appeals to me from watching Yancy Derringer when I was a kid. I missed getting an HJS version. Anyone seen one of these for real.

Interesting, despite their impractical nature given modern selections, all the derringers at Buds seem out of stock.

An original C. Sharps barrel grouping and stripped frame (talking mid to late 1800s here) came up for sale on ebay a couple weeks ago. I was gonna rebuild it but got outbid on the frame.

They are a neat Revolver. The firing pin rotates around to each chamber, vs the barrels revolving. The C.O.P. derringer is a more modern derivative.

I have handled an original. Neat little gun. Kinda wish I’d bought it, but.... $575 for a .22 short that I’m not sure I could fire, I couldn’t do it.

I looked at a COP when they first came out. They had terrible reviews. I did see them used for CCW on the latest Battlestar Galactica. Probably because they looked neat.

There was an episode of the show Psyche where the head detective slept with one under his pillow

If Mossberg reintroduced the Brownie, Id be all over one!:D

There were some cheap Italian copies of the Brownie imported by an outfit called EIG in the 1950`s. And in the 1980`s or 90`s, a company in Minnesota called Advantage Arms made a pretty good copy for a while. It may have had a built-in ejector; I can`t recall. People seem to pay a lot for them on GunBroker.

PS - Oh, and the Cobray "Pocket Pal" was sort of a Brownie descendant; it was like a Brownie converted into a revolver that could use either 380 ACP or 22 LR, with interchangeable cylinders! It sounds fascinating, just like the COP 357. And, just like the COP 357, it's a dreadful gun. Late examples of it seem to have some extra holes drilled into it to let gas out. I have no idea what problem that solved, but I am glad not to have found out directly.

Has anyone actually seen one in the wild?

All the videos I see are from 2017 and shot shows. Not one being reviewed or fired...

?

I have no Earthly use for that.

I have no Earthly use for that.

....not working, still want one. Anybody heard anything about the pricing yet?

I have bid on some originals both online and in real life at auction. Pricing on originals is all over the place but has always been higher than I’m willing to go. Very neat mechanism internally too. Seems like it would be delicate modern steels and controlled quenching just might fix that.

Look, if you guys want to break the spell of this gun in this thread just close out of this thread and scroll down one or two subject lines...then you’ll find something else to distract you...for a bit...maybe...probably not...never mind...o_O

Looks like just the perfect oddball I would buy. Strange stuff appeals to me. Heck, I just bought a Landor Revolving .410 shotgun. Love NAA mimi revolvers. Had a Bond Arms SnakeSlayer(that got sold to fund a SpeedSix.). And I still have my Snake Charmer.

Cool little gun, but I have no use for it. My nostalgia and collecting tendencies died awhile back. Practical or nothing for me now in all regards.

The COP mentioned above was a gun I always wanted, but after hearing they came with terrible heavy triggers I just couldn't ever bring myself to do it.

That would be formidable with a .22 mag chambering.

Any idea what they sold for at Bud's?

The similar Brownie seems like a good deal for $5....

There were a fair number of Navy Arms/Italian 4 barrel Sharps .22s sold. They have to be somewhere; probably on the very back of the top shelf in the gun case.

I fired a C.O.P. some, back when it was in production. Shape of the grip and weight distribution amplified recoil. .38 WC wasn't too bad, but .38 LRN kicked a good bit and keyholed on target to boot. .38 +P kicked hard and .357 was painful.

Had one of these once and while it was a neat little gun, it was heavy and I had ignition problems that I couldn't solve. also it used a zig zag system rather than a hand to rotate the cylinder

Has one of these Iver Johnson “pepper boxes” ever actually shipped? The’ve introduced it more than once at the Shot show, but somehow they never quite release it.
