Anyone tempted by Palmetto's Glock clone?

yes, but if you don't want a glock, as parts wear, you will have one in the end. Now, if you want a starting point for upgrades, great.

How much are you planning on breaking? Unless mistreated MOST guns will typically only wear out springs. Occasionally you might have the oddball part fail but it's not as if you're having to go through and replace every part on a gun during it's service life.

FWIW, I'll probably get one of these just to play with and I'll double check parts compatibility. It's supposed to effectively duplicate a G19. My "G19" is a Polymer80 build with almost no actual Glock parts but it's all compatible stuff so I can check most of it to see what swaps. My "real" Glocks are a Gen4 G17 and a Gen3 G22 so the stuff that will swap over to the Dagger with those will be small.

I think used Glocks are cheap enough that it doesn't make sense for me. I looked at building a Polymer80 last year when they were on sale and figured it would be close to $600 to build a complete one and while it might be fun to do, it didn't make sense when I could buy a lightly used G19 with extras for $400 which I ended up doing.

Absent any "upgrades" they will sell like hotcakes.

Appears there are already a ton of aftermarket parts available.

Like the hinged trigger better than Glock.

Sights are a no brainer.

Despite holster compatibility - that is one ugly butt trigger guard. Should be rounded.

Nothing needs be said about the grip angle if 18°.

Glock will sue.

Some aspects of the gun look more like my Sig P365. But Glock trigger?

I have nothing against this Palmetto gun in particular .... but I just have no interest in it.
Glock are bricks with grips. Ick. Oh they work fine and all.

My first love in handguns are cap & ball revolvers any way .... so color me wierd.:D

I have a feeling PSA will not be the only manufacturer to come out with new Glock clones. Just like 1911's. If the patent has expired, as it appears it has, then the Glock 19 is fair game for all. And it stands to reason they will get better and better. Free to add improvements in so many ways. PSA already addressed the grip issue and complaint by so many as well as even the sights (better Quality). I am betting PSA simply built a better mouse trap and and a cheaper cost. It was bound to happen sooner or later.
There will be some manufacturers that want there name out there as one that has built a better Glock. They will take that name recognition and amount of sales all day long.

Based on everything I have seen including the video PSA posted about a week ago, it appears the Dagger is basically just a factory built 80% Glock. All the components seem to be off the shelf parts from other companies.

$299 and i bet they will have a sale on them for $269 or something, then id probably get one. I prefer the looks of it over the Glock

Nope. I would gladly pay the extra for a real Glock new or used. A LGS was selling new Gen 3 Glock 19 for $399 last holiday season. My ammo costs, range fees far exceeds $100 in a year anyhow and a Glock will certainly bring in the difference on used price it if ever comes to that. I would expect that Glock support would also far exceed PSA if ever needed.

I do not think I ever bought a gun thinking about what I would get for it used down the road. And then you are right back to zero because a purchaser could pick up a BRAND new Dagger for the same cost.

Where have you been hiding at :) ? There have been some for a while now. They are all just higher priced up until this one.
