anyone use 45ACP swc in a 44 cal BP?

I guess bullet should be bit larger than chamber in order to make a tight fit.

Also, how do you locate bullet before pushing into the chamber, any chamfer on cylinder chamber, or bevel base on bullet?

I bevel the chamber mouths so the bullet is a bit easier to center and seat the bullet. It also helps swage the ball into the chamber without shaving off a ring of lead.

I always shoot Lee 200 grain SWC, cast from old school wheel weights in my Ruger Old Army.

I bump the base of the bullets into a .446" sizing die until they will start into the cylinder, and load with 35 grains of powder and a lubed felt wad.

The bullets seat easily, and the gun is super accurate.

I had hoped to use a wide variety of .45 slugs, but most of them won't fit into the loading window (the cylinder won't move into "ramming position" because the cutout in the frame is too small).
