Was looking up a way to improve my M&P9c's trigger to be more like that of a Glcok with a 3.5 installed. I seen the 29 page slide show on how to do your own trigger job but I am not confident in my small parts polishing skills. Has anyone installed the Apex Hard Sear in their M&P and how did you like it?
Link to the Apex Sear for those unfamiliar.

I own 5 M&P's and I have upgraded all of them with the Apex sear. For $29, and a 5 minute installation, it should a mandatory upgrade for all M&P owners. The exception to this would be those carrying M&P's as a duty weapon.

The trigger weight of all of my M&P's no measure at or slightly over 4 pounds, and the trigger reset is FAR more distinct.

The Apex sear is so good, that I even upgraded my 2 M&P Pro's... Yes, it is that good.

A beautiful pistol deserves a beautiful trigger.

I just put one in my M&P45fs. My son also has a 45fs and we shot them side by side and difference (both in pull and smoothness) was night and day. I have an extra that I bought that I'm putting in my 9fs to try and see if it makes as big a change.

I have the Apex sear and firing pin block, and love them both. The trigger is amazingly smooth now, and the reset is great.

It is like night and day.

A must thing to do and easy at that. I first installed the sear and USB and it was amazing from the stock trigger. I just received their 'carry" sear and trigger springs that bring the pull to approx.5.5 lbs (from 4.5 or so)

Have there been any functioning issues? I noticed gglass advising not to do it on a duty gun. I think an M&P is in my very near future and I would use it for CCW (I'm not an LEO). Thanks!

I am interested in this too, but I would assume his warning away from LEO's using it was simply due to reduced trigger weight and agency requirements.

In all honesty how easy are these to install, I love my M&P but would like a better trigger in it, what tools would I need?

Apex now offers a "APEX M&P Duty/Carry Action Enhancement Kit (DCAEK)". This is several different components including the sear, striker block, and springs, etc. This kit was designed to give those who carry their M&P's daily/for duty the better trigger feel, and not reduce the pull weight to a dangerously light weight. From everything I've heard, no one has had any problems out of any of the Apex products yet.

Go check 'em out.

For reviews from a lot of other M&P owners using the Apex products, you can check out this forum as well, lots of good info on this site, just not as much daily activity.

The the reduced weight trigger would be my main concern for LEO's. Also, I don't know of many LE departments that would approve the use of aftermarket trigger components like sears. Every department has similar rules for both issued and approved carry guns that require a factory approved armorer to certify a handgun for use... The handgun usually has to be re-certified this way every year. I'm 99% certain that an aftermarket sear would not pass the smell test.

Brings up an interesting question for CCW, if you were involved in a SD situation could this be used against you? Sort of "hair trigger" avenue for prosecution? Even with the Duty/Carry mods, I don't think I'd feel comfortable carrying the modified gun.

it's not that light...they are pretty consistent at producing a trigger pull of 4lbs. the major improvements are in the smoothness of the trigger press and the more distinct reset.

Can anyone cite an actual case where an otherwise good shoot resulted in a guilty verdict because of modifications to the handgun? or because of the shooter's choice of ammo?

for reference:
--------------Trigger Travel - Total travel - take-up - reset
XDm (w/ Springer kit) .33" - .165" - .165"
Glock (modified) .40" - .23" - .17"
M&P 9 Pro (stock) .55" - .34" - .21"
M&P 9 Pro (Apex) .55" - .385" - .165"
