Anyone use the Tyler T-Grip

I like 'em, too - - -

- - -But really prefer the Pachmayr type. I have a T-Grip on my Colt Agent because I can't locate the Pachmayr for it. Works okay.

I'm in the market for any old Pachmayr grip adaptors you might have laying around in drawers or junk boxes. I'd like to have the ones for:

Colt .41 frame - - - Python, Old Trooper, Official Police, etc.
Colt D-frame - - Det Spec, Agent, Cobra, etc.
Colt New Service/1917
S&W K frame, round butt AND square butt
S&W N frame
S&W J frame

Thanks for any leads.

Johnny

The T-Grip definitely serves a useful purpose, IMHO. When using minimal sized grips that leave the backstrap and frontstrap exposed (e.g., Barami Hip Grip; original S&W wood service stocks, etc.), the addition of a T-Grip affords a better grip without adding significant bulk.

I like the product but I do not like their service. They say that they are made to order. That may take a couple of months. Why don't they keep any in stock? I ordered one by mail once and they told me they never got it. :(

I've always been a fan of T-Grips, just don't use them often.

I use them on a J-Frame that has the Barami Grips on it. I also have a set for the N-Frame, but I've since found better stocks. They are a "niche" item, and I think there are many more options in Revolver Stocks today than years ago.

On a J frame with original minimalist wood grips Tylers work great for me. Ultra compact and adequate control.

Retro-cool on vintage guns.

ravencon: I certainly agree with you about the wood grip w/tyler grip for J frames. I found mine at a local gun show and attached them to my newish 642:

I also believe that the "perfect" carry gun is a Ruger Speed Six with the orignial wood grips w/tyler as well.

Old thread, good topic.... ;)

I like them for nostalgia sake. Even though they are not quite as comfortable as modern grip designs I just don't like the look of modern grips on a classic revolver..

(If anyone has one for a RB J frame and/or a set of factory wood grips they'd sell drop me a line - I have a early 2" 34-1 that needs outfitted)

I learned to shoot pistol with my Dads K-22 S&W. It always had one and fit me just fine. I remember my surprise when I first held a revolver without that little T-grip. :D Kind of missed it!

Mark.

This is the only T-gripped gun I've got, and it's a fairly recent addition. I have mixed feeling about the fit and feel, but it does just seem to somehow look right on the gun.

I've got more than a few, and I'm always scouring local parts bins for more. If Tyler would drop some bucks on thier website and let me credit card order them on line, I'd be on the hook for 25 or so of different sizes. I mean, I've got some revolvers here... not a few.
I keep hoping that they join the 21st century, because I love the product that I've been able to get. If I could punch in the model number of the T-Grip I wanted, my CC number, etc, and have it on the way, they would be rolling around in my money and praising our savior, on their way to expanding their plant.
As it is, I'm not going down to Stop & Shop at 3 AM to beat the line to pay them via Western Union. Modernize, or have me buy Pachmayrs and haunt the parts bins. It's a hot product once you shoot with and without them, so why are they so hard to buy?

Logan5: I see what you mean about the website not having an automatic ordering process , but they do take credit card orders by phone. Not really a big deal to just give them a call, right ?

On that line of thought though, man.. their website sure is ugly too. I guess it works, but it looks like no-one has updated the design since the early 90s.

Yup, I've got one on my 19-5, and just got another one for my Colt Army Special.

Just figured out wich one I needed from the website, and picked up the telephone.

This is my third time ordering from them. Simple as can be, and they've accepted credit cards at least since 2003 when I ordered my first one.
