Tyler T-Grips

"Look into the BK grips, instead. Yes, they're plastic, ..."

Oh , I just couldn't go plastic. But thanks for the suggestion.

I've had a Tyler on my Charter Arms Bulldog for almost 30 years. Quite happy with the gun and the way it feels. Any type of rubber grips just felt too big and bulky. The .44 shoots well too.

Don't know about Tyler's current business practice or the Brahma (sp?). But he design is sound.

Don't own nickel, so I can't comment.

Help

I acquired a 1960's version Colt Detective. Love the looks but it tends to move around in my hand after each shot. I am wondering if the Tyler T Grip would help cure this? I also have a 642 Smith, the 642 remains very solid in my hand after each shot. Do you guys think there would be any advantage to put the T Grips on the 642? Just looking for some thoughts from your experience.

I too installed a Tyler T grip on one of my Security Sixes a few years back. The stock wood grips were just too skinny and made it difficult to grasp well, its helped a lot. I found these original ones online a few years ago.

Here's a little Colt Cobra I just picked up.

I installed a vintage Tyler T-grip, and like the looks of it.

Here's a Model 66 I have with fake ivories and a Tyler. The Tyler really helps with those small grips.

Here's a 442 with Magnas and a Tyler. Great combo.

Pachmayer also made (makes?) them. I've found them much cheaper on the used market and they are virtually the same thing.

Send in an order to Tyler Manufacturing, OK at you own risk. They will cash your check immediately, but not send you the product. Also will not answer telephones or reply to emails. Check the BBB and you will see others with similar stories. Learn from my mistake and take a pass.

This is frustrating. The photos of wood gripped snubs with T-Grips make me want one right now , but the cautionary tales are prohibitive. Man , that Security Six is really , really nice!

For Sale???

I to want to order the T grips but do not want to get taken by a company that has a history of doing just that. Does anyone have T grips for a colt detective special they would consider selling?

My experience with Tyler T grips was a positive one. I mailed an order on 26 Aug 2013 to Tyler for a T grip for a Ruger Security Six. Received the T grip on 9 Sept 2013. I paid with a USPS MO. Backing out two Saturdays, two Sundays and one Monday holiday and given the USPS track record I was excited to receive the grip in nine working days.

My experience with Tyler has been disgraceful. My check was cashed at their bank on 7/7/14, and nothing from them yet --just shy of three weeks. And according to their Web site, the product was in stock and ready to ship when I ordered. And, they refuse to communicate to courteous calls and honest email.

There is no excuse for nearly 3 weeks of foot dragging after cashing your check. My personality is such that I would be having an outta body if I were in your shoes. Not going out on that limb.

Someone from Tyler aught to read this thread and take corrective action.

Someone mentioned Pachmayr making or having made a similar product. Anyone able to verfy that?

I had a really good experience with the Tyler folks.

I think total turnaround was like a week and a half, including having my check in the mail. Was very pleased with the product:

I can verify.

I bought a couple really old NOS Pachmayr grip adaptors from an old gun store that had them from days gone by.

I can say that, while interesting and cool, the Tyler product is far superior. The Pachmayr product doesn't have finger grooves, and they move and squeak as you grip the revolver.

I ordered my T-Grip several years ago. It states right on his order form that he doesn't reply to communications. I do not remember how long the order took to come in, but I am pleased with the product and would order again.

I believe that the other poster was referring to my mention about the Pachmayrs. I have my dad's M&P that looks like yours and the Pachmayr work great with no movement. Wish they still made them as an alternative to what we seem to be seeing as poor CS from Tyler since the father died

I really like the Tyler T-Grips on my Model 15 but they don't really get it on my Model 66 or Sis's Model 19 shooting .357s; Still bangs my second finger enough to discourage prolonged practice. For that I use Pachmeyers.
I did modify one of those plastic version adapters with a Dremel to fit my Ruger Bearcat and I like that much better than the factory Ruger fit for a back packing gun. Otherwise I'd have used Acraglass or something
Don't tell anyone, but I modified the wood grips by relieving a little area in the front to accommodate the Tyler tabs without totally relieving the force they provide to hold the adapter in place. (I did that before wood grips became like some kind of contraband price wise)( My heirs will have to deal with that, so; Hey? big deal.)
