Okay, weird question.
It's been established that an SBR cannot be used as a "concealed weapon" type of AOW without first re-registering it, apparently in conjunction with the concealment device, as an AOW. I assume it's something like the "dual registry" of machine guns which are also destructive devices.
But what about a weapon that's already registered as an AOW (not in conjunction with any other device)? My form 4 for my Serbu Super Shorty only says "any other weapon" on it, nothing specifically about the type of AOW. And, in fact, it already meets two seperate definitions of AOW, being both a smoothbore pistol and a pistol which is not designed to be fired while held in one hand. So what about making it a triple-AOW?
Yes, I realize that the real answer is "write a letter to the ATF and see what they say," but I'd like to know if anyone has already written them, or has otherwise heard of a previous opinion of the ATF. And discussion might pass the time while I wait for a return letter (if I decide I care enough to write one; I probably would never even bother to make one if they said it's legal, anyway).
