Well he clearly had no Concealed Carry permit, and he is also a prohibited person that cannot even legally possess a firearm with his past burglary convictions.
On top of that he had over 30k in cash on him, and was heading to the Mexican border.
Carrying a gun with him just insured they found the cash. Which is likely going to be forfeited.
It wasn't a case of a legal owner accidentally forgetting it was in his bag, so the title is misleading.
