Picked up a DSA Stg-58 awhile back, and have been looking for a suitable, yet cheap, scope to mount on it. This is a rifle for which 2 - 3 MOA is as good as it gets, so spending alot of money for a quality scope seems foolish to me. The rifle came with a picatinny rail, so I bought a set of 1" TPS tactical rings for it. I was looking to find a used scope, when my attention was drawn to a Sightron SI 3-9x40 Mildot scope on sale at Natchez for $109.99. I have a Sightron SII 6-24x42 scope on my F Class rifle that I am very happy with, and since Sightron's come with a lifetime warrantee, I said what the hell and bought it. Although I had never bought this cheap of a scope before, a cursory examination of the scope was to my liking. I mounted it, and from the picture you can see that it is mounted very low, and both the objective and eyepiece with Butler Creeks clear the handguard and receiver. Took it to the range today, and after getting zeroed in, promptly shot a 2MOA 5 shot group at 100 yards. I am EXTREMELY happy with this scope. The glass is surprisingly clear for the cost of the scope, and the turrets feature 1/4" click adjustments instead of the friction-type adjustments that are sometimes found on cheap scopes. While a scope such as this will never replace a better quality one on a precision rifle, there are applications where they serve the purpose.

Cheap is a $29 dollar no name POS. Sightron is pretty well known for affordable optics but not cheap...they make some decent optics. Former owners of Tasco started that company and they are made over in Japan where the good Tasco scopes used to be made!
