It bothers me to see some responses that are inaccurate technically. It happens here on occasion.
It bothers me even more to have accurate information "Corrected" with inaccurate information.
I have learned to state things as fact if I have
A: A references to verify my information.
B: Personal experience regarding the information.

I also post my opinion frequently but state it as such, realizing that opinions like the proverbial A$$H@/e always stink.

How do you think a person should respond when they see inaccurate technical information?

How do you think you should respond if accurate information is "Corrected" by another post? (read this to mean one post is accurate and factual but another contradicts the first with incorrect information)

How do you react when Your accurate information is corrected in another post with inherently inaccurate information?

I am asking since I was "Corrected" in another thread and may have been sarcastic, even snide to the response.
Here is the thread as a reference

I think that it is pretty common knowledge that one should not believe many of the things that are read on a message board, and verifying those things that are believed to be true is crucial.

There is no control over who is knowledgeable vs. those who are wannabes. Caveat emptor!

You did the right thing in the thread that you offered as an example. You verified your claim. The other chap did not.

Verify your information with citations and such. Always take the high road. If someone is an A$$ that karma is on them.

If someone is stating something demonstratively dangerous then use the little "!" icon and report them to the moderators.

Using the thread you posted for reference, it looks like you might have been wrong. NateG clarified that teh original poster was talking about a .243 WSSM, which is shorter than a .243 Win cartridge, but you cited information about the .243 Win. But I'm just guessing, since I know nothing about any of those cartridges.

Always remember that advice received over the Internet is worth more or less what you paid for it. Take it with a big grain of salt until you've found independent confirmation.

Of course, every thing I say is 100% correct. Always!
:)

Dang I missed that the original post said wssm. .243 Winchester is a wildcat .308 case, .243 wssm is a modified 300wsm case.
It appears a certain amount of apology on my part is in order.
