Aquired in my uncles Will

My uncle was in the navy in WW2 aboard the USS Mankin Island off Iwo Jima.

He somehow brought back a German Luger. I remember as a kid getting to shoot a few rounds. Anyway my cousin, his son, now has it and let's his kids shoot it.

Pass the gun down to future generations folks, you won't regret it.

I have a 1941 stamped Beretta 1934 .380 with 'Royal Army' stamps and NO import marks.

Yes an Italian military pistol from WW2.

No doubt a WW2 bring back. Pity I don't know who the GI was nor the history of the pistol.

Mine is dated 1943 and was brought back by my now deceased FIL who was a Navy SeaBee. Slide and hammer bite do not begin to describe trying to shoot this gun.

One of my uncles came from Burma in 1946 with a P-08 Luger. He got it from a japanese army pilot after the surrender. My uncle could not find where the pilot got from. His grandson says he has been looking everywhere for more history on German weapons used by Japan.

Luckily for me I have small hands.

No bite and the little gun shoots fine and dead on with the sights.

And I hope, unlike some a Nazis guns (no offense intended), no poor soul was murdered by it.

My sympathies on the loss of your uncle. The company I work for has Belgian roots, they maintain a relationship with local veterans of the Battle of the Bulge. Their numbers get smaller every year, it's sad to lose them.

My father is a Pearl Harbor survivor and WWII vet. He quit watching the obituaries several years ago because he has so few contemporaries left. He went to Pearl for the anniversary every year until 2010. He did the HERO flights until 2011. The pistol he brought back was taken from a Japanese officer.

> provenance

Even if you don't intend to sell them, do it while the information may still be available. Pass them down to your inheritors with as much paperwork as you can assemble.

BRYCE, As another poster indicated ,the first 2 on your list are collectible and, in good condition, are worth a fair amount. Like others though, I wouldn't sell them for love or money if they were mine. They are part of your uncle's legacy.
